ABOUT THE WESTVIEW DANCE CLUB

The Westview Dance Club has been in existence since 1970 and is organized and managed by member volunteers and a member-elected Executive.  Westview is one of the longest running non-profit ballroom dance clubs in Canada.

The present Westview Executive lineup is:

President - Brian & Joan Armstrong

1st Vice-President - Bill & Pat Hales

2nd Vice-President - Bev Gunnarson & Claude Mason

Secretary-Treasurer -  Jim & Alexis Oliver

Supplies- Paul Bainbridge & Florence Mitani
                  & Viv Cheal

Although learning the standard smooth and Latin ballroom dances is an important aspect of the Club, the social benefits of dancing are just as important to our members.  The Club emphasizes the fun and cameraderie of social dancing and we have six social dances and three dinner dances during our season.  Each of these dances is hosted by one of the classes who can be very creative in coming up with themes for their dances!

The Executive have been very busy with the process of finding and employing a dance instructor suitable to the membership of the Club.  We are pleased to announce that our dance instructor, effective September 2010, will be Monique Perreault. Some of you may have met Monique and perhaps taken lessons from her.

For the 2011-12 season, Monique will be returning to Westview for Wednesday and Thursday classes due to her work schedule. As the Senior Instructor she will be responsible for developing and coordinating the curriculum for all classes. She will be collaborating with our new instructor closely over the dance season.

We are pleased to announce that Anthony Funari will be our instructor for Monday and Tuesday evenings.
