Revolver & Pistol Assn. Safety and Range Rules
1. All users of the range must sign in at each range they are using. Signature and Club Card number. There are no Guest shooting privileges allowed on the West Rifle Range unless during a Club sponsored event. 2. Outdoor range hours are 8am to dusk. 3. Only paper or metal gong targets are allowed. All paper targets must be stapled to the top half of the target backer board only. 4. No smoking on the firing line, nor anywhere near the designated loading line for black powder. 5. Shooters must ensure that there are no target frames in line with their posted targets. Ensure all shots end up in the backstop. 6. While shooting all members must wear their Membership Card in open view. 7. Shooters are responsible for policing the range at the end of their shooting. Target backer boards must be returned to under the covered firing points and all garbage placed in the trash receptacles. 8. Shooting at targets placed on the ground is Prohibited. 9. The use of Centerfire Rifles is limited to the Rifle [West] Range by members only. 10. The use of Holsters is allowed only on the Action Shooting Range (behind the Rapid Fire targets) unless at a Club sponsored event. No loaded firearm may be holstered at any time. This rule does not apply to Police rental contracts. 11. The Rapidfire Range and the Standard Pistol range must be controlled by one Range Officer. Entry to the target area can only procede when both ranges are clear. Both ranges can not be used independently. 12. Common courtesy shall be practiced at all times. 13. The range to the far east (north of the Trap Range) is closed as marked. 14. All shooters using the Trap Range must sign in at the Small Bore Rifle Range. 15. No shooter may fire at a rate that precludes their ability to aim each shot and strike the designated target. 16. Safe gun handling is required at all times. No novice may use the ranges without prior training and certification. 17. Anywhere on the property firearms must be unloaded and when uncased the action open except when actually shooting. 18. Muzzle control must be practiced at all times. Guns being transported out of case must have the action open and the muzzle pointed straight up. 19. Misfires and damaged ammunition must be retained by the owner and removed from WRPA property. 20. For casual shooting all member/shooters must agree to an informal firing line establishing shooting periods. 21. No one may approach the firing line or handle any firearm when a cease fire [red light or red flag] is in operation. 22. Eye and ear protection is recommended during all firing sessions. 23. Firearms must never be pointed over the backstop. Shooters must bring their aim up to the target not down. 24. Treat every misfire with extreme caution. Keep the muzzle pointed down range and wait one minute before opening the action. 25. No food is allowed on the firing lines. 26. Please report any damage or faulty equipment as soon as possible. 27. Ensure all safety warning flags and chains across walkways are
in place before firing.
