The Salisbury House Trophy was donated to the Winnipeg Music Festival in 1953 by the Salisbury House Limited. This trophy was originally awarded in an annual competition by a Public School Elementary String Ensemble with Pianoforte. It was not given out from 1957 to 1969. In 1970 the trophy was reintroduced for annual competition by Public School Classroom Choirs from Grades 7 to 9. In 1999 eligibility was expanded to include Public School Classroom Choirs from Grades 7 to Senior 4. The trophy is currently awarded for the most outstanding performance by a School Classroom Choir, Grades 7-12.
