PETER LOGAN MEMORIAL TROPHY

The United Scottish Choir donated the Peter Logan Memorial Trophy to the Winnipeg Music Festival in 1945. This trophy was originally awarded in an annual competition of Suburban School Classroom Choirs. Since 1970 this trophy has been awarded annually for the most outstanding performance by a School Classroom Choir, Grades 4 to 6.

Peter Logan, bass-baritone, was born in Gifford, Scotland in 1871. He came to Winnipeg in 1909, performing as a soloist and serving as a choir leader in various churches within the city. With the exception of two years in the 1930's, Mr. Logan was the leader of the United Scottish Choir from the time of its formation in 1922 until the time of his death in 1944. He will always be remembered by those who knew him for his contributions to music, his kindness, and his love for his fellow man.
