
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society donated the Gilbert & Sullivan Society Trophy, in memory of Harold A.C. Johnson, to the Winnipeg Music Festival in 1999. This trophy is awarded for the most outstanding performance in a competition of winners of Gilbert & Sullivan classes.
Harold Johnson was involved in Gilbert & Sullivan productions in high school and with the University of Manitoba Glee Club both as a trombonist in the orchestra, and as a principal performer. Mr. Johnson was a charter member of the Winnipeg Gilbert & Sullivan Society, and a strong supporter of its many goals and activities. He passed away April 7, 1998.
