BERYL FERGUSON MEMORIAL TROPHY

Former pupils of Beryl Ferguson donated the Beryl Ferguson Memorial Trophy to the Winnipeg Music Festival in 1947. This trophy is awarded for the most outstanding performance in a competition of Grade 10 instrumentalists.

Ms. Ferguson was born in Winnipeg in 1899 and died in 1940. She studied piano with Milan Sokloff and later with Leonard Heaton. She became very popular as a teacher and attracted a large class of students, organizing competitions between her pupils as well as encouraging them to compete in the Winnipeg Music Festival.
