Our world
famous AquaGlaze® is a slow drying,
semi-opaque glazing medium which allows extra drying time for
decorative finishing. Simply add 100% acrylic latex paint for hundreds
of glazing colors.
AquaGlaze® is a complex, slow drying
glazing medium which is used in combination with ordinary latex paint.
(good quality works best.) The standard mixing ratio is to add 5% to
30% latex paint to 70% glaze. Aqua Glaze® mixture can be
applied over substrates such as best quality semi-gloss acrylic latex.
Aqua Glaze® was designed to work in a well sealed surface for
maximum slow drying. This is why it is suggested to first coat any
painted surface with at least one generous coat of SetCoat® Clear or to
work on a surface coated with SetCoat®.
AquaGlaze® mixtures are easily worked and are easy to use for a
variety of attractive decorative finishes including marble, wood
graining, rag-rolling, sponging, bagging, pouncing and stippling.
AquaGlaze®
has the feature of allowing one to use already tinted latex paints with
no need to be an expert color mixing specialist. Just use paint store
color charts when picking color glazing combinations.
AquaGlaze®
durability will depend on the quality and amount of the latex paint
added to the glaze. Both interior and exterior latex may be used.
AquaGlaze® decorative finishes should be clear coated with
Aquaguard™ for increased durability for use in kitchen and
bathrooms where a great deal of chemical and wear protection is needed.
Covers Approximately 400 sq ft per gallon. Available in pints, quarts,
and gallons.
AquaCreme™
is a clear
glazing creme added to artist's colors for translucent effects. For
superior transparency, add to our FauxCreme®Color™
for
marbling, glazing, wood-graining, and other artwork.
AquaCreme™ is a breakthrough in a clear creme
glazing medium. AquaCreme™ offers truly unique
features, allowing for not only longer working time, but offering
better working characteristics as well. When normal glazes are half
dry, you can pull and mar the finish. AquaCreme™ offers the
ability to be worked all the way to an almost dry state, allowing for
dry brushing and even the creation of positive and negative patterns
with ease. AquaCreme™ is slow drying for easy workability.
Layers can be added with no need to coat between them.
AquaCreme™ performs best when used as a system over SetCoat® or SetCoat® Clear
basecoats. Best of all AquaCreme™
is low in VOCs and friendly to you and the environment. Aqua
Creme™ stays put when applying (no dripping) and gives a
professional translucent look for all your faux and decorative finish
work. Marbling, wood graining, and antiquing
executed in AquaCreme™ all take on a superior appearance when
used in conjunction with FauxCreme®
Color.
Just add varying amounts of FauxCreme® Color
to produce depth of color required for particular
finish. AquaCreme™ may be used for all traditional glazing
techniques. Covers Approximately 400 sq ft per gallon. Available in
pints, quarts, and gallons.
AquaExtender™ (Master
Extender) is a clear additive to increase "open time" of
AquaCreme™ and AquaGlaze® . Especially helpful in
very dry environments or when time-consuming manipulation of layers is
involved.
Average addition for slow drying 4 - 8 oz per
gallon. Sold in pints, quarts and gallons.
SoSlow™ Super Extender,
an additive that greatly slows the drying time of water-based finishing
products, allows finishers and decorative artists to maximize control
of open time to create a broad range of effects over a desired period
of time.
SoSlow™
is a very effective thinner and a retardant for color concentration
porducts such as Stain & Seal™,
FauxCreme®, AquaGlaze®
and all color mixtures. The composition of SoSlow™
helps sepatate the color distribution resulting in a very smooth, slow
drying clolr coat, especially useful for cabinet and furniture
refinishing. In special circumstances, SoSlow™
can even be used alone as a glazing medium for the ultimate slow drying
glaze. SoSlow™,
avialable in 16 oz., quart and gallon sizes, is a translucent, low -VOC
product with excellent workability over porous substrates. It can be
mixed at a rate of 50% by volume into Stain & Seal™
to make a liquid stain that is easy to manage on large surfaces. Or,
added into metallic paint at a rate of 10% by volume for ease of
application on large surfaces in hot or warm conditions.
AquaCrackle® is a
water-based, 2-part furniture quality crackle system. You can produce
small to giant "California" cracks. Simply brush, roll, or spray over
AquaSize®.
Available
in Clear, White, Black, Gold, Silver, and Pearl. Sold in quarts and
gallons. Covers Approximately: Black: 100 - 150 sq ft per
gallon; Clear:
150 - 200 sq ft per gallon; White: 200 - 300 sq ft per gallon
CrackleMate® is a clear
additive used in SetCoat®, FauxCreme®Color, or latex
paint which allows you to create unlimited custom crackle colors and
effects. CrackleMate® is one part of a two part system and must
be applied over AquaSize®.
Size must dry for at least 45
minutes or, more importantly, until tacky. CrackleMate™ is a
clear, semi-paste paint additive that transforms SetCoat® and other
Faux Effects®
products
into crackling materials. CrackleMate™ may also be added to ordinary
latex wall paint with varying degrees of success depending upon the
particular brand of paint and the amount of CrackleMate™
that is added to
it. Normally, about 30% of CrackleMate™
is added to SetCoat®, but more
can be added to produce larger cracks. In general, do not exceed 60%
when adding to any paint material. CrackleMate™ may also be
used as a crackle glazing material. In this case, add about 30% to 40% FauxCreme® Color into CrackleMate™, then
brush or manipulate these colors into patterns. Cracking will occur as
the colors dry. Many decorative and interesting crackle patterns can be
obtained by playing with your mixtures and the methods of application
over the crackle size. Lizard and snake skin are some examples of what
one can obtain when FauxCreme® Color is added to CrackleMate™
and then blotted on over the crackle size. CrackleMate™ is a
versatile decorating material and was designed by Faux Effects®
to
allow for great latitude in crackle mixtures and resulting effects. The
best approach to learning what you can do with this material is to mix
and play. Covers
Approximately 200 - 400 sq ft per gallon. Sold in pints, quarts, half
gallons, and gallons.
AquaSize® is the basecoat
sizing "glue" material used in the 2-part CrackleMate® and
AquaCrackle® systems. We recommend applying with a disposable
foam brush, but for larger areas it can be rolled or sprayed.
Covers
Approximately 300 - 400 sq ft per gallon. Sold in pints, quarts, and
gallons.
AquaGard™
(DuraSheen) is a water-based, non-yellowing varnish which provides a
furniture quality finish. Rub between coats for a piano-like finish.
AquaGard™
is
a clear, furniture quality, durable, water base acrylic material. It is
used as a top coat to increase the durability of a decorative finish.
AquaGard™ is a clear anti-yellowing finish coat available in
gloss, satin, dull, and clear flat. AquaGard™ may be applied
by
brush, roller, or spray and may be thinned up to 20% with tap water if
desired. AquaGard™ is our most widely used clear coat
product. It
has good wear and chemical resistance. AquaGard™ is normally
used
as a protective clear coat on walls and furniture, but on table tops,
AquaGard™ should be top coated with Aquathane™ for
maximum
toughness. AquaGard™ can be polished and rubbed smooth with
steel
wool and compounds after it has dried for at least 72 hours.
AquaGard™ can also be used as a concrete sealer as well as a
clear top coat on decorative finishes when working on concrete, but
should be top coated with Aquathane™ for maximum durability
on
walked on surfaces. AquaGard™ should not be applied below 55
degrees F because application at low temperatures reduces the ability
of this product to properly obtain a good film formation, thus reducing
its durability. Covers Approximately 400 sq ft per gallon. Available in
Gloss, Satin, Dull, and Clear-Flat. Sold in quarts and gallons.
AquaThane™
(DuraGard) is a co-polymer urethane designed for a tough, hard,
anti-yellowing finish coat. Use on cabinets, floors, tabletops-anywhere
a superior, tough, chemical resistant surface is required.
AquaThane™ is a clear, furniture quality, very
durable water base polyurethane material. It is used as a clear top
coat for maximum durability on any plain or decorative finish.
AquaThane™ offers excellent UV protection which guards
against film breakdown from the run rays. AquaThane™ has been
used as a clear coat on automobiles in the Florida sun and has been
proven to stand up well. AquaThane™ contains a Co-Solvent
system that should be applied with caution over new or sensitive color
or artwork. First apply a coat of SetCoat® Clear
or AquaGard™ and allow to dry before applying
AquaThane™.
AquaThane™ may be applied by brush, roller, or spray and may
be
thinned up to 20% with tap water if desired. AquaThane™ can
be
polished and rubbed smooth with steel wool and compounds after it has
dried for at least 72 hours. AquaThane™ can also be used as
clear
top coat on concrete for maximum durability on walked on surfaces. The
concrete should first be coated with SetCoat® or
AquaGard™ for their ability to deeply penetrate and bond to
the
concrete. AquaThane™ should not be applied below 55
degrees
F because application at low temperatures reduces the ability of this
product to properly obtain a good film formation, thus reducing its
durability. Covers Approximately 400 sq ft per
gallon. Available
in Gloss, Satin, and Dull. Sold in quarts and gallons.
C-500™
Urethane is a commercial quality, water based, clear topcoat
manufactured by Faux Effects® for use in water-wet conditions
or where maximum durability is desired.
C-500 Urethane™ is pre-catalyzed so
there is no messy mixing or measuring required. This product bonds and
seals so completely it can be used for water fountain areas, decorative
sink bowls, vanities, and kitchen counter tops. Available in Gloss,
Satin, or Dull sheens in a variety of sizes.
ColorSeal™ is a clear easy to use topcoat with very
low non-aggressive co-solvents in its chemical makeup.
This
product is excellent as a barrier and finish coat over glazes, artwork
and sensitive color work. It seals the decorative finish without
disruption and prepares the surface to accept a tougher, more durable
topcoat if needed. Sold in quarts and gallons.
AquaWax™ is a finishing
material that is reminiscent of an Old World wax-coated wall, both in
look and feel. Just rub or trowel on and buff. May be tinted with
FauxCreme®Color. Excellent for sophisticated stenciling and can
be painted over without removing.
Covers
Approximately 200 - 400 sq ft per gallon. Sold in pints, quarts, and
gallons.
Aqua Finishing Paste™
is a clear, easy-to-use topcoat paste made for Stain
& Seal®, but serves as a general topcoat as well.
Provides a hard, satin finish coat. Apply as many layers as you desire
with cheesecloth and buff in between coats.
Aqua
Finishing Paste™ is
a clear, furniture quality, durable water base resin paste formulated
material. It is used as a clear top coat and decorative finishing
material. Aqua Finishing Paste™ is a clear, tough,
anti-yellowing
rubbed on finish coat, that dries to a satin finish. Aqua Finishing
Paste™ may be thinned up to 20% with tap water if desired.
Aqua
Finishing Paste™ may be re-coated with ordinary paint. Aqua
Finishing Paste™ offers average UV protection which guards
against film breakdown from the sun's rays. Aqua Finishing
Paste™
contains a Co-Solvent system that should be applied with caution over
new or sensitive color or artwork. Lightly rub on the first coat
followed by heavier more aggressive applications as each coat dries and
builds to a heavier film. Aqua Finishing Paste™ was developed
to
allow for easy finishing on hard to paint surfaces such as carved wood,
chairs and railings, etc. Aqua Finishing Paste™ may be tinted
with FauxCreme®Color
and be used as a finish toner as well as a clear top
costs. Aqua Finishing Paste™ has good wear and chemical
resistance. Aqua Finishing Paste™, when colored with FauxCreme®Color,
is an excellent stenciling material because it stays put and does not
easily seep beneath the stencil edges. Aqua Finishing Paste™
also
dries fast so that multi-layer stencils can be accomplished quickly.
Aqua Finishing Paste™ can be polished and rubbed smooth with
steel wool and compounds after it has dried for at least 72 hours. Aqua
Finishing Paste™ should not be applied below 55 F because
application at low temperatures reduces the ability of this product to
properly obtain a good film formation, thus reducing its durability.
Covers Approximately 50 - 200 sq ft per gallon. Sold in quarts and
gallons.
FauxCreme®Color
(AquaColor™) These acrylic, non-fading colors are artist
quality tinting mediums recommended for maximum translucence with
AquaCreme™.
Use straight from the bottle or mixed with
creme for all decorative painting, stenciling, murals, floorcloths, and
other forms of artwork. FauxCreme®Color is a water
base resin and non organic color grind specially formulated artist
material. It is used as a color additive that is mixed into
AquaGlaze® or AquaCreme™ to produce quality faux and
decorative finishes. FauxCreme®Colors are available in pigment
and metallic colors. This material is unlike standard paint color tints
in its formulated make up. FauxCreme®Colors will dry
to a hard, durable finish on its own unlike paint tints and will not
bleed even in high concentrations. It
also has a natural translucent quality.
FauxCreme®Colors may
be used on interior painted and exterior glazed and decorated surfaces
and has excellent UV sunlight protection. FauxCreme®Colors are
normally used in AquaCreme™ and this combination dries to a
durable finish (topcoat optional). FauxCreme®Colors may be used
in
AquaGlaze® instead of latex paint for very slow drying and
great
maneuverability for cloud effects and other soft decorative finishes.
This combination, however, requires a carefully applied protective
AquaGard™ clear coat for durability (spray coat is
suggested).
AquaGard™ contains a Co-Solvent system that should be applied
with caution over new or sensitive color or artwork. Lightly coat on
the first coat followed by a heavier more aggressive application after
the light first coat has dried. FauxCreme®Colors may be applied
by
a cheese color or pouncing brushes for stencil work.
FauxCreme®Colors should be stored in a cool dry location and be
hand shaken every few months to ensure creamy consistency.
FauxCreme®Colors should not be applied 55 degrees F because
application at low temperatures reduces the ability of this product to
properly obtain a good film formation, thus reducing its durability.

8oz, 16oz, and Quart bottles.

resin used in the manufacturing of SetCoat® allows the material
to
be hand rubbed to a satin patina, or wet sanded to a feather edge.
Amazingly, SetCoat® is low in VOC content and friendly to the
environment. SetCoat® is excellent for furniture and
refinishing
mica. Thoroughly clean the old surface before applying the
SetCoat® material (For cabinets, furniture, and mica finishes,
sand
the old surface with 220 grit roll, or spray. For second or multiple
coats, allow the SetCoat® two coats.) If the SetCoat®
is
sprayed, it may be thinned with water if desired, but it is not
necessary with most spray painting equipment. For roll-on applications,
use Aqua™ fine quality sponge rollers. Finish roll in one
direction, especially with metallic SetCoat®™. For
brush
applications, use a fine quality brush made for water
base material. Finish brush in one direction with light brush pressure.

SetCoat®
Clear (AquaSeal) is a super-clear seal coat
which turns any flat latex paint coat into an exceptional basecoat for
decorative finishing. Sealing with SetCoat® Clear (or
SetCoat®) gives more open time for
glazing.
SetCoat®
Clear is a product that is designed to
work both as a primer seal coat and as a clear finish coat in the Aqua
Finishing Solutions™ Systems. SetCoat®
Clear seals porous wall paint and allows you more working
time for AquaGlaze® and AquaCreme™ Finishes. This
material is available only in a clear version. SetCoat®
Clear is recommended to be put over both previously
painted wall surfaces or newly painted surfaces. When you
put SetCoat® Clear over flat
or semi-gloss paint, it turns it into an extraordinary base coat paint
for Aqua decorative finishes. Because it is clear, it will not change
the color of your background coat. (Over very dark colors, SetCoat®
Clear will produce a dull or frosty effect.) Its creamy
consistency makes it easy to apply. SetCoat® Clear can
be brushed, rolled or sprayed on and is perfect to apply over wall
finishes for maximum durability. Do not exceed 20% water to volume for
spray application. A fine grained sponge or short nap roller work best
for hand applications. Allow at least four hours drying time before
applying AquaGlaze® or AquaCreme™ color mixtures.

in VOC content, and friendly to the environment. Easy soap and water
clean up. Covers Approximately 400 sq ft per gallon. Available in

condition of the base coat has been established, apply a coat of SetCoat® to start
and allow this material to dry thoroughly. Durable wear, high hyde and

Verdigris Colors™
Produce beautiful Old World verdigris
patinas every time with our Verdigris kits.
We've
prepared the color scheme for you, but you control the tonal qualities.
For interior and exterior and may be used over any surface. Each kit
comes with either one quart of Copper or Bronze SetCoat®
basecoat
and three 8oz verdi colors. Aqua Verdigris Products produce a durable,
natural looking, oxidized metal finish over wood, plastic, iron, etc.
Aqua ™ Verdigris materials are a complete system of base coat
and
color materials designed to oxidize and turn chalky as the different
color formulations dry out. Aqua™ Verdigris is available in
two
base coat metallic acrylic color choices of copper or bronze.
Aqua™ Verdigris base coat material is allowed to dry. Then
both
Dark-Green and Blue-Green Verde material is applied at random over the
entire surface using a brush, sponge, cheesecloth or spray. The colors
may be thinned with water up to 40% base upon the desired appearance.
These colors are allowed to dry. Aqua™ Verdigris system then
calls for the application of light green Verdi material which may be
thinned up to 40% water and 40% white FauxCreme® Color over
entire
piece. Aqua™ Verdigris is quite color fast, but extreme UV
sun
rays may further oxidize the color. This generally has little effect on
the overall finish because it is what happens in the natural
oxidization of copper and bronze. Aqua™ Verdigris system may
be
top coated with dull AquaThane™ to protect against UV, but
this
material should be almost dry misted on to prevent any possible color
change. (optional) Aqua™ Verdigris colors also available
separately in 8oz bottles.
