Scholarships

     Each year the St. James Legion provides scholarships to the five high schools in the St. James area. These scholarships are presented to students who have participated in the varsity inter scholastic or performing arts program, has demonstrated leadership ability combined with good citizenship and maintained a high level of academic achievement. The winners of these scholarships are as follows:
  • St. James Collegiate- Monica Wong
  • Silver Heights Collegiate- Katherine Barchyn
  • Westwood Collegiate- Colin Wolfe
  • John Taylor Collegiate- Maureen Titheridge
  • Sturgeon Creek Collegiate- Wayne Sherk

Each of these students received an award in the amount of $350.00.

St. James Legion, special scholarships in the amount of $400.00 each is presented to student of St. James Collegiate and Silver Heights Collegiate. To be eligible for this scholarship the student must be the son, daughter or grandchild of a veteran or a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. The recipient must be a proficient scholar who intends to continue his or her scholastic studies.

This years recipients are:

  • St. James Collegiate- Krystal Van Den Bosch
  • Silver Heights Collegiate- Michael DeDenus.

Undergraduate scholarships of $300.00 are presented to grade ten and eleven students in September.

The scholarships total for the year 2002 is $3150.00.
