the New Testament called Revelation Revelation is the only book of its kind in the New Testament. It was written by John (in about A.D. 95 - 96) during his exile on the island of Patmos, off the coast of Greece. He wrote it to give hope and encouragement to the Christians who were suffering persecution in the Roman provinces of Asia for their faith in Jesus Christ. The book consists of a series of visions, dreams and revelations in symbolic languages that make its meaning very difficult to understand. The book contains many references to Angels, a few of which are outlined below. |
| In Revelation 1, we read |
| "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his ANGEL unto his servant John." |
| In Revelation 5, we read of the seven seals |

"And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. |
|
And I saw a strong ANGEL proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof." |
| In Revelation 7, we read of the sealing of God's servants. |
| "And
after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the
earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow
on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
And I saw another ANGEL ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads." |
| In Revelation 8, we read |
| "And
when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about
the space of half an hour.
And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another ANGEL came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. |
| And
the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended
up before God out of the ANGEL's hand.
And the ANGEL took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound." |

| In Revelation 14, we read |
| "And
I saw another ANGEL fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting
gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation,
and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." |
| In Revelation 18, we read of the power of the Angels in John's vision. |

"And a mighty ANGEL took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all." |
| And in Revelation 20 |
| "And
I saw an ANGEL come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless
pit and a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years." |
| In Revelation 22, we read John's validation of his vision. |
| "And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his ANGEL to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. |

Behold,
I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy
of this book.
And I John saw
these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down
to worship before the feet of the ANGEL which shewed me these things."
