Inspired by a love of nature and a lifetime of working with wood, Tom Park began his wood carving career when he retired in 1997 after 38 years as a teacher and principal. He is an active supporter of Prairie Canada Carvers Association , a group that promotes the art of carving and organizes one of the most successful carving competitions in Central and Western Canada. He is also a member of Les Gens de Bois Carving Club and the Adanac Carving Club in Winnipeg. Tom's carvings feature decorative songbirds, shorebirds, raptors, decorative waterfowl and decoys. He has been participating in carving competitions across Western Canada since 1999. Tom lives in Winnipeg with his wife Dorynne. They have three adult children. |
