24-Hour ULC-listed Monitoring Service

Since our inception more than 20 years ago, Tower Security has subcontracted its monitoring service to AAA Alarms. However, as of October 1st 2008 we’ve moved our monitoring service to Armstrong’s Communication.  This decision was not taken lightly and was made after much deliberation and planning.  For more than a year we have been evaluating various alternatives and are confident that Armstrong’s Communication monitoring service will result in some significant improvements.  The following highlights some of the benefits of Armstrong’s Communication and the improvements you can expect:

  • Armstrong’s Communication is a family owned Canadian company and has been in business for over 17 years.
  • Armstrong’s Communication is ULC-listed for Burglar, Fire and Financial Shared Service alarm monitoring ensuring professional, high-quality monitoring and eligibility for insurance discounts, etc.
  • Armstrong’s Communication is a company that exists solely to provide top-quality monitoring services across Canada.  They do not sell alarms or other services and their success hinges completely on being a top-quality monitoring center.
  • Armstrong’s Communication operates two monitoring centers that are linked together, along with a disaster recovery site in Plano, TX. This gives Armstrong's complete redundancy.
  • Cutting edge advancements – In addition to the protection that comes from multiple monitoring centers and disaster recovery, Armstrong’s also embraces technology to provide the following:
    • Internet monitoring (TCPIP)
    • Audio verification
    • Cellular backup
    • Customer (end-user) internet access to your own accounts, to view your keyholder listing, do history reports, etc. (If you are a current subscriber and would like to arrange for Internet access, please contact our office)
  • For further information, feel free to check out Armstrong’s website at www.armcom.ca

How does this affect you, the customer?

Improvements in monitoring
  • Prompt response to alarm signals
  • Live operator answering – no more automated attendant or extended hold times.  Armstrong’s is committed to answering incoming calls on a timely basis.
  • Professional, courteous, fully-trained operators
  • Having multiple monitoring centers in different time zones provides protection against operators being overwhelmed by busy times of day or environmental situations e.g. storms, power-outages, etc.
  • Local ownership and local service – Tower Security remains a local company with the same local ownership and, as in the past, we are committed to providing you with a comprehensive security solution.  If you ever have a question, whether it relates to system operation or monitoring details, you can contact us and we will ensure you are looked after.  We accept full responsibility for your complete security experience, which is why we felt this change in monitoring centers was critical to our customers receiving the best in security monitoring services.
  •  Local alarm signal transmission – We have always emphasized the advantage that comes with an alarm system that transmits opening and closing information.  This provides valuable information to an operator surrounding an alarm event, and perhaps more importantly, it tests the communication capability of your alarm system every time you turn it on or off.  Typically (depending on control panel type), a failure in communication would be promptly indicated with a TROUBLE light on your keypad.  This higher level of monitoring that Tower Security has always offered will not be affected by the monitoring center change.  If your system was previously configured to send arming and disarming signals, it will continue to do so.  Note for our rural customers i.e. long-distance to Winnipeg - In order to reduce long-distance charges on your phone line, this feature will not typically have been enabled.  If you would like the added security of opening and closing signal transmission and have a long-distance phone plan that would be of little or no cost consequence for Winnipeg calls, feel free to contact us and we’ll advise if this can be enabled remotely.
  • Unsure on whether your panel currently transmits opening and closing signals?  There are a number of ways to check.
    1.  Does the phone line that the alarm is connected to go dead for a period of time immediately following disarming or at the end of the exit delay when arming?  If so, your panel is transmitting opening and closing information.
    2.  Sign up for the Internet access to view the signals that your alarm system is transmitting.
    3.  Call us, and we can check the signal history

We strongly believe that this new monitoring center will serve you better.  Even though our cost of providing this service to you has increased over our previous arrangement, we feel the level of satisfaction and customer support is worth the increase, and we are committed and excited to pass on these improvements to you at no additional cost.  We are so convinced that you’ll be impressed with Armstrong’s monitoring that we guarantee complete satisfaction. If you have any concern whatsoever, we guarantee to resolve your concern and make it right.
