TUFFORD:
George Tufford was born on March 11, 1791 in the United States of America. He married Martha Ann Carpenter, who was born about 1801 in Ontario. They had a family of ten children, six sons and four daughters. They first show up in Malahide Township, Elgin County, Ontario in the 1861 census. It is thought that they were likely elsewhere in the Niagara region previous to this, as most of the Tuffords that came to Canada were in that area. George died on April 18, 1872 in Malahide Township, and Martha died on January 27, 1874 in Malahide Township. They are both buried in the Dunboyne Cemetery, Malahide Township.
I have not been able to connect my Tufford family to the other Tufford families of the Niagara area of Ontario. Some of these families were there as early as the later 1700's.
George and Martha had a family of six sons and four daughters:

Mary Ann Tufford married Robert Henry Nellis and they had three daughters and two sons.
Reverend John Carpenter Tufford married Catherine Jane Yokum and they had five sons.
Joseph C. Tufford married Nancy C. _____ and they had one son.
George Tufford married Mary Ann _____ and they had two daughters and one son.
Francis Henry Tufford married Mary M. _____ and they had one daughter.
Jonathan P. Tufford married Mary Jane Wonnacott and they had four daughters and four sons.
Amarantha Elizabeth Tufford married Robert Burns and they had three sons and three daughters.
Sarah Margaret Tufford married George Kent and they had two daughters and two sons.
Martha Catherine Tufford married James W. McDermand and they had two sons and a daughter.
