Thistle Curling Club
Format and Rules:
- All games are 8 ends or 1:45 hour bell.
- If a game is tied at the end of the game, an extra end will be played. If a winner is still not determined, then it will be decided by one shot thrown by both teams and the winner is whoever is closest to the button. You can select anyone from your team to be the shooter (doesn't have to be the skip) and sweeping is allowed only by the team throwing the rock.
- Spares must play lead or lead and second.
- Group winner of each round during regular season play (4 rounds) earns a spot in the play-offs. Non group winners can participate for the Tonnellier Cup which is played by both Wednesday and Thursday night members.
- Round winner tie breakers are determined by:
1) Head to head
2) Shoot out for Round 1 only if head to head doesn't break the tie
3) Higher points in standing at the start of that round if head to head doesn't break the tie for Rounds 2, 3 & 4
- Games that may need to be rescheduled are to be played before the end of the round. For games that are missed due to a CurlManitoba event only and the rescheduled date can not be agreed upon between the 2 teams, the offending team will receive points for the loss and not '0' for the default.
We ask that all teams try to be co-operative when this situation occurs since these teams are representing the Thistle Curling Club. A default occurs when the opposition is not given enough notice that you are unable to play the scheduled game and the team who can't make the game will be not be awarded any points.
- Interlocking games - the winning team will receive points from the higher group and the losing team will receive points from the lower group.
- Club championship play-off is awarded to the top 5 teams in point standings at the end of regular season play and Wednesday night league is awarded to the top 3 teams in points standings. This is subject to change, depending on number of teams enrolled in each league.
- Club championship tie breakers are determined by:
1) Most wins in Group A during regular season play
2) Head to head if most wins in Group A doesn't break the tie
3) Tiebreaker game if rules 1 & 2 don't break the tie
- Grand aggregate winner is awarded to the team with the most points at the end of regular season play. In the event of a tie, it will be determined by a one game play off to be played before the playoffs are to begin and the date will be confirmed when the schedule is sent out for round 4.
