St. Benedict's Monastery and Retreat & Conference Centre is located on Masters Avenue, off Hwy. 9, 3 kms. north of Perimeter Hwy. 101 which encircles the city of Winnipeg. Map

From Winnipeg By Auto

Take North Main Street, which becomes Hwy. 9 north of the Perimeter Hwy. 101. Go 3 kms. on Hwy. 9. Just after a large curve in the highway you will see our sign. Turn right onto Masters Ave. The first left drive goes to the entrance of the Retreat and Conference Centre. The second left drive goes to the entrance of the Monastery.
OR
Take the Perimeter Hwy., to the Selkirk (Hwy. 9) Exit. Go 3 kms. on Hwy. 9. Just after a large curve in the highway, you will see our sign. Turn right onto Masters Ave. The first left drive goes to the entrance of the Retreat and Conference Centre. The second left drive goes to the entrance of the Monastery.

From Winnipeg By Bus

At the Bus Depot, take the Beaver Bus that goes to Selkirk, MB and ask to get off at St. Benedict's. You will have a 5-7 min. walk up Masters Avenue to St. Benedict's.


For U.S. Visitors

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is located on the Red River which forms the border between North Dakota and Minnesota, just 60 miles north of the U.S./Canadian border.

By Auto

From the South, take U.S. Interstate 29 which becomes Hwy. 75 in Manitoba. At the northern edge of St. Norbert, MB turn right onto the 100 East Perimeter Hwy. (At the intersection of Hwy. 1, Hwy. 100 becomes Hwy. 101.) Continue on Hwy. 101. At the intersection with Lagimodier Blvd., there is a stoplight. Take Hwy. 101 West to the right, staying in the middle lane. Directly, there is another stoplight. Make a left turn onto 101 West Perimeter Hwy. Stay in the right lane and take the Hwy. 9 Selkirk Exit. Go 3 kms. on Hwy. 9. Just after a large curve in the highway, you will see our sign. Turn right onto Masters Ave. The first left drive goes to the entrance of the Retreat and Conference Centre. The second left drive goes to the entrance of the Monastery.

From the West, take the Winnipeg Bypass Hwy. 101 North to to the Selkirk (Hwy. 9 North) Exit. Go 3 kms. on Hwy. 9. Just after a large curve in the highway, you will see our sign. Turn right onto Masters Ave. The first left drive goes to the entrance of the Retreat and Conference Centre. The second left drive goes to the entrance of the Monastery.

By Air

Airline which fly into Winnipeg are Northwest, American, Air Canada, Canada 3000 and United (in partnership with Air Canada. From the airport, take Wellington to Route 90 North, then the Bypass (Hwy. 101 East) to Hwy 9 (Selkirk) Exit. Go three kms. on Hwy.9, then right on Masters Ave.

By Bus

Take a Greyhound Bus (1-800-231-2222) to Grand Forks, ND, and Triangle Transportation (1-204-784-4500) from Grand Forks to Winnipeg. Then take the Beaver Bus as above to St. Benedict's.

Identification

Travel to Canada by Citizens or Permanent Residents of the United States does not require a passport. However, identification may be required at the border, for example, a birth certificate or resident alien card.

Currency Exchange

U. S. money is worth more in Canadian funds. Please pay the fee for Retreats or Workshops in Canadian funds through an International Money Order. The rate of exchange varies from day to day. Call a bank to determine the current rate of exchange. If you are travelling by auto, you can exchange U.S. cash at the Ammex Duty Free Shop (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) on the U.S. side of the border (on Interstate 29) at the best rate for the day with no service charge. A service charge is made at the airport.
