St. Benedict's is an area resource center for Contemplative Outreach Canada.
Trained presenters are available to offer Centering Prayer Introductory workshops for your group either at St. Benedict's or at your location. If you would like to learn more about this traditional Christian prayer or plan for a workshop, contact Sr. Catherine, area coordinator of Contemplative Outreach, at 339-1705.

Centering Prayer may be for you. Centering Prayer is a simple method of Christ-centered silent prayer, a renewal of an ancient Christian contemplative practice, updated for our time. It can lead to a deeper prayer life, personal healing, spiritual transformation, and closer union with God. This workshop is the first part of the introductory series.

Centering Prayer Group Facilitator Training

Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 10 am - 3 pm

The contemplative dimension of the Gospel of Christ is growing in Manitoba! We wish to train and equip those Centering Pray-ers who may sense a call to service. Those attending will learn the basic building blocks of becoming an effective Centering Prayer group facilitator. The only pre-requisite for registration is a daily practice of Centering Prayer for a minimum of six months.

Centering Prayer Follow-Up Series

3 Saturdays, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, Dec. 8, 1:00 - 4:00 pm

The follow-up is crucial for clarifying and extending the practice of Centering Prayer. It includes the first six sessions of the Spiritual Journey, periods of centering, lectio divina, silence and group sharing.

Prerequisite: Introductory Workshop

Centering Prayer Follow-Up Weekend

Friday, Feb. 8 (7:30 pm) - Sunday, 10 (1:00 pm)

This weekend is crucial for clarifying and extending the practice of Centering Prayer Introduction. It gives you the opportunity to practice Centering Prayer with a group several times, to view six half hour teachings by Fr. Thomas Keating and to share as well as experience silence, solitude and rest. (This weekend is an alternate to the Follow-Up Series.)

Prerequisite: Introductory Workshop. Please register by Jan. 24th.

Contemplative Outreach United in Prayer Day

Celebrate the worldwide network of Contemplative Outreach united in a single bond of Centering Prayer around the globe. The afternoon will include a new video by Father Thomas Keating plus the practice of Centering Prayer and dialogue.

A Deepening Retreat in Centering Prayer

Friday, May 2 (7:30 pm) - Sunday, May 4 (1:00 pm)

For persons who are committed to Centering Prayer and desire a deepening experience of the role of the Holy Spirit and Centering Prayer. The weekend will include a video by Fr. Keating, periods of Centering Prayer, lectio, silence and solitude.

Intensive Centering Prayer Retreat

Deepen your understanding of the spiritual and psychological foundations for Centering Prayer in an atmosphere of community and silence. Each day will include 3 hours of Centering Prayer, Fr. Keating's conferences on video, worship, lectio and quiet time. The pre-requisite for this intensive retreat is the introductory workshop and follow-up series or weekend and at least six months of faithful practice of Centering Prayer.

This is retreat for those who have made the Intensive Retreat and are faithful to the practice. This retreat includes multiple periods of Centering Prayer, the remainder of videos on the Spiritual Journey, silence and solitude.

Post-Intensive Centering Prayer Retreat

Friday, July 18 (4:00 pm) - Friday, July 25 (4:00 pm)

This is an in-depth retreat for those who have experienced the Intensive Retreat. It is an entering into the profound levels of spiritual practice in an atmosphere of silence and solitude and community. There will be three and one half hours of Centering Prayer and contemplative walks per day, Eucharist, lectio, opportunity for private interviews with Centering Prayer staff and personal time.
