New this Year
Manitoba has just introduced Sunday Hunting for Migratory Game Birds. If this interests your party, please let me know.
1) What about accommodation?
For the full service plan T. B. Outfitters engages a farm vacation bed & breakfast facility located near the fields.
2) Is it possible to hunt four days?
Yes, but only with plenty of advance notice. I hire professional guides who work for full weeks on a salary basis. I have to have 6 or 7 days work per week for each of them.
3) What are the bag limits?
Each hunter is allowed three Canada geese per day. Ducks are eight per day. Prairie chickens are four per day. These limits are subject to change from year to year. We are expecting the limit on Canada geese to go back to five in 2003.
4) What kinds of blinds are hunted?
In our permanent fields we use pits sunk in the ground. They are able to accommodate up to four hunters in each. We have twenty four quarter sections on which we have exclusive hunting rights. Our main field is owned outright so we can control the type of grain grown.
5) How much walking is involved?
Geese hunting involves no distance walking. Guides drive quests right to the blinds by 4x4 or by six wheel ATV. Grouse hunting does require some walking. Duck hunting is in the marsh over decoys or over decoys in the field and does not require any walking.
6) What's the weather like that time of the year?
The temperature can fluctuate quite widely in fall. For the most
part it is between freezing and 60 degrees. A look at the video will show that it is often quite warm here during hunting season but one should always bring a set of warm hunting clothes and a pair of knee rubbers.
7) What about afternoon hunts?
We have two hunts per day. Morning is for geese and afternoons we hunt fields for ducks.
8) Typically, what does the actual hunt consist of concerning time and
work?
My only goal here is to satisfy my customers who become my friends. All the field work is done by your guide and they love to hunt so you will not be disappointed. Each is a registered guide in Manitoba. The duration of each hunt is dependent on many variables including weather, geese population, ability of the shooter and so on. As you can see in our video, opportunities are numerous.
9) Is shooting the limit common?
It is more common to shoot your goose limit by eight or nine in
the morning then not. I lease and own the best fields surrounding Oak Hammock.
10) Is there entertainment nearby?
Yes. We have local nightclubs and restauraunts nearby. A government run casino is within 45 minutes from your accommodations.
11) Can I bring my dog?
You may bring your dog if you wish. I have lots of room for the dog to run.
12) Is it all Canada Geese.
We have many species of Canada geese and Snows and Blues. The
Specks show up occasionally but I wouldn't guarantee those.
I hope I have answered any questions you may have. I stand behind anything I have said with pictures and references. Some of my quests have been with me for twenty years and still return. I still have room and accommodations for a few hunters so I would suggest and hope you let me know soon so I can book your spot. You won't regret a hunt with me.
