About Ceterra Affenpinschers

Ceterra Affenpinschers was started by Lorna Spratt in the late 1980's. She purchased Ch. Aff-Kin's Licorice Chewy from Emily Kingsley. Chewy made the record books in Canada by becoming the first Affenpinscher to win a Canadian Best In Show. She was Number 1 Affenpinscher that year. In 1988, she was bred to Am. Can. Ch. Hilane's Lonesome Cowboy, an American Best in Show, and Specialty Show winner. This pairing produced Robbie.

Robbie is better known as Am. Can. Ch. Ceterra's Rock-N-Robbie. Robbie hit the show ring with a bang. As a puppy he was a multiple group winner. He won Back to Back Best Puppy in Shows. In 1990, he became the all time winning Affenpinscher in Canada, this record stood until 2004 when his great grandson Am. Can. Ch. Hilane's Harry Potter broke it. He is still the all time Canadian Bred, breeder owner handled Affen in history. In December 1990, Robbie went down to the US with Delores Burkholder. He finished his American Championship, and won an American Best in Show, and the Affenpinscher Club of America's (ACA) National Specialty under respected Judge Mrs. James Edward Clark. He was also shown enough in Canada to finish #2 Affenpinscher. Robbie was back in Canada in 1992, where he was again # 1 Affenpinscher, and in 1993 he again became # 1 Affenpinscher. Robbie was retired in December of 1993.

Am. Can. Ch. Ceterras Little Margie Mud Pie (Dakota) was born in September of 1990. She won Reserve Winners Bitch at the ACA National Specialty in 1991 and Best of Winners in 1992 and finished her American Championship. She also finished in the top 5 for the Breed in Canada.

On October 25, 1991, Am. Can. Ch. Ceterra's Little Black Sambo was born. He is sired by Robbie and his mother is Am. Ch. Aff-Kin's Kischia Frolics. Sambo went to live in the US and eventually ended up in Texas. He has had an incredible impact on the breed in the US. Some of his kids include Multi Best In Show and Best in Specialty Show winners such as Am. Ch. Tamarin Travis, Am. Ch. Tamarin Tip Off. Multi Group winners such as Am. Ch. Periwinkle Godzilla, Grand kids include Am. Ch. Tamarin Trevor, Am. Ch. Yarrow's Mighty Joe Young, and many others.

Ch. Ceterra's Billy the Kid was born in December of 1992. He is the son of Robbie and Am. Ch. Aff-Kin's Kischia Frolics. He was Number 1 Affenpisncher in 1994, and is only the second Affenpinscher to win Best in Show in Canada. In 1995, he was # 2 Affenpinscher.

I became involved with Affenpinschers in 1990, when I purchased Gibbon from Lorna. Gibbon's registered name is Ch. Ceterra's Believe It Or Not. He is the result of a repeat breeding of Chewy and Cowboy. Gibbon was not the show dog his brother was, but we did manage to get his Canadian Championship. I learned a lot, showing him and it prepared me for my second Affenpinscher.

On December 25, 1992, we received quite the Christmas present. Ch. Ceterra's Diamond Rio or Ria as I call her, came to live with me, she is co-owned by Lorna. This began the partnership with Lorna. Ria is a joy, she loves the show ring, and still will strut her stuff. At her very first show, at the age of 6 months, she won the Breed and a Group 4th and Best Puppy in Group. Her next weekend of showing, finished her championship and won her 2 more puppy groups and a Group second. She ended her puppy year by winning breed over Robbie at Credit Valley. She ended up being #4 Affenpinscher that year. The following year, she was # 2 Affenpinscher, and in 1995, she became # 1 Affenpinscher in Canada. In 1996 she took off some time for motherhood, she was bred to Ch. Ceterra's Billy the Kid. This litter produced 6 puppies, Ch. Ceterra's Dirt Devil (Amos) and Ch. Ceterra's Cinnamon Twist (Meg) and Ceterra's Almost an Angel (Angel) were kept by us.

Amos, Meg, and Angel all finished in the top 5 Affenpinschers for Canada in their show careers. Ria's second litter produced 4 puppies, 2 Canadian Champions, Ch. Ceterra's Arachniphobia (Spider) and Ch. Ceterra's Call'n The Shots (Webster) and 1 American Champion, Ch. Ceterra's Black Diamond (Raven). In 1999, Am. Can. Ch. Hilane's Harpagon came to live with us for the show season. We finished his Canadian Championship, then he and Ria got together. Ch. Ceterra's Shasty McNasty (Adam), Am/Can. Ch. Ceterra's Ain't MisBehavin (Gabby), and Am. Ch. Boda-Fied Fortune of Ceterra (Tuney) were the result of that litter.

In 2000, Spider was # 1 Affenpischer, Gabby was #2, and Meg was #3. In 2001, Gabby was Number 1 Affenpischer in Canada. In 2002 & 2003, Gabby finished #2 in Canada. She spent the last half of 2003 and first half of 2004 in the US where she finished her American Title, and got a Group 2 in the US.

In 2001, Saucy or Am. Can. Ch. Tamarin Tabasco came to live with Lorna, she is a daughter of Am. Can. Ch. Ceterra's Little Black Sambo and a full sister to BISS BIS winner Am. Ch. Tamarin Travis and BIS BISS winner Am. Ch. Tamarin Tip Off.
