Lost In Shadows

Lost in shadows,
I wander through these halls,
wondering,
what became of it all?
Not so long ago, everything was so clear,
now I'm just left with shades of grey.
Someone come rescue me,
I'm tired of walking within these walls,
I want someone to come take me away.
The sun shines through the window, making me smile,
a promise of hope.
I turn back to this prison, face it with grim determination.
I will fight, I will not surrender.
Band with me if you will,
your help is always welcome,
a helping hand goes along way,
place it in mine, tomorrow night we will walk among the stars.
Sweet music fills my ears, takes me to another place, another time,
when it was all too surreal,
ah but it was too surreal - it wasn't real, and now, here I am,
standing before you as I am.
But there are people around me, reaching out their hands to me, even if you do not extend yours.
And so I'll accept theirs, even as I'll wait for yours.
