I am the Angel
I am the angel.
I did not choose to come here, but was drawn to you and found myself standing over you as the world collapsed down at your shoulders.
And I stood there, quietly, observing and extending my hands to you in comfort, wishing I could wrap them around you and take away your sadness.
But I am an angel, ethereal, and that means I cannot meet your grasp, if only you would even notice I was there.
But angels are spiritual beings, and you gave up on us long ago.
What would it take to make you see?
I remember once, I was standing next to you as the walls came tumbling down,
and still you buried yourself in the rubble,
so that noone could dig you out.
But I was the angel, and could see you gasping for air and struggling to live.
You curled up tight to preserve your life,
And there was almost room for me to come near,
But then you broke free;
You never saw me.
Time moved on, life moved forward quickly,
I struggled to not to get lost in the fray.
I took one wrong step and then suddenly,
I was the one lost.
I dug myself out
but you were gone.
And when I found you again,
The collapse was simply,
Just. Too. Much.
For me.
