Good-night prayer

The Sequel

Thank-you Heavenly Father
For today and for tonight.
Be with us all,
And give us all a good night's sleep;
With no bad dreams,
No silly dreams,
Just Your peace.
In Jesus NAME,
Amen

Such a short, simple prayer
And yet totally profound!

Our daughter at one time had trouble sleeping at night,
so my wife came up with this simple prayer that
embodies the teachings of our faith;
it expresses our confidence in God,
the Heavenly Father
who sent his own Son to die for our sins,
and our trust in Jesus Christ our Lord,
who willingly gave his life
that we might be redeemed
from our sinful state,
and our hope in the comforting Holy Spirit,
the Heavenly Helper
sent by God the Father and God the Son
to strengthen
and guide
and empower us supernaturally.

I Admire Your Faith, but ...

Trusting your heavenly Father is not that difficult
The GoodNight prayer expresses simple, child-like
faith, because we have a loving heavenly Father
who, with great love and compassion, looks for and
longs for our call.

The truth is, God delights in doing good things
for
His people!  His desire is to show He is
trustworthy, loving and compassionate.

He has promised that He would help us to live the
Christian life, because he would send His Holy Spirit
to help us. He knows the temptations and testings
we will face, yet He assures us that in a spiritual
sense not a hair of our heads will go missing, but
that He will see us through to heaven.

So you also can put your trust in Him, in the same
childlike way:

"Lord Jesus, I need you;
I recognize my inadequacy,
and to the extent that I recognize my powerlessness,
I put my trust in you,
the righteous, just, loving and all-powerful one
who formed me in my Mother's womb,
and who died for my sins,
knowing each and every one of them
before I had ever committed one of them.

"What an AWESOME thought,
that you would die for me,
who deserved to die,
that I might live.

"In ADDITION to all this,
You sent your Holy Spirit
to baptize me with power,
that I might be able to gain victory
over my sin,
over sickness
and over bondage,
and that I might be able to share
this same person
and this same power with others."
