Guan Yin - Acrylic on 140 lb paper 8x10

Guan Yin is known as the Chinese Goddess of Compassion - but she is not really a goddess. She is a bodhisattva - an enlightened being who has pledged to help others attain enlightenment. This was a commission and is a blend of Chinese and Japanese styles.

My major concern with this painting was to provide sense of profound serenity and beauty. The halo and other details were painted with pure metallic pigment to give the painting a bit of an iconic look.
