- Evangelical Fellowship of Canada - they have been granted intervener status to be involved with a legal case that could affect religious freedoms.

**We will be re-organizing the church mailboxes for January 1, 2010. If you would like a mailbox, please confirm this by handing your name in to the offering basket, into mailbox #14, or to the office. This is for everyone that already has a mailbox as well as those who haven’t had one, but would like one. Mailboxes will be reassigned on December 31, 2009. Please check for your new mailbox number after this time.

An Invitation to All Men

The ministerial have been discussing the importance of encouraging the men in our congregation to be faithful disciples of Christ.  The culture around us has painted a number of different pictures of men.   One picture is that of a man who is financially successful.  He is a workaholic and buys his family everything they want but is bankrupt when he enters the doors of his house.  This man has poor relationships with his wife and children.  At very best, he encourages his family to go to church without him as he gets caught up on work or watches sports on T.V.

Another picture painted by our culture is that men are irresponsible.  While women are made out to be intelligent and clever, countless commercials and T.V. shows make the man out to be unintelligent and the laughingstock. 

Super hero movies on the other hand portray men as macho valiant warriors fighting for justice. 

We believe there is an intense battle going on for the hearts of men.  Many men have given into one of cultures definition of masculinity.  Who are we as men?  What does being a man mean?  What does the Bible have to say about who we are as men?  How can we encourage each other to be the disciples of Christ that God wants us to be?

We are inviting all men of this congregation 16 years and older to a 15 minute meeting to gauge the interest of starting a ministry for men.  The meeting will be held on Sunday, Nov 15 right after the morning service in the front of the sanctuary.  The ministerial will make a short presentation and share their vision for men’s ministry.

Nov 19 - The HavenGroup Foundation cordially invites   you to a meeting, 7 pm in the basement of Woodhaven Manor to discuss the results of a        study that proposes additional personal care home and alternative housing options at the existing Rest Haven Nursing Home as it seeks to meet the     growing needs of our seniors.  Also, a brief presentation on the vision and organization of the Foundation Board will be given.  Contact David Driedger, CEO, 346-5004 for further information.

Nov 21 -  Special Invitation: All Conscientious Objectors (COs) from World War II and/or their spouses are invited for a coffee time and progress            report, as well as a viewing of “The Wall of Remembrance”, at the             Winkler Senior Friendship Centre, 584 Mountain Ave, 2 – 4 pm.

 Nov 28 - MCC Craft, Bake and Alternative Gift Sale, at 134 Plaza Drive, to support AIDS Care Kits for overseas. To donate baked goods/crafts call Arthur, 1-888-622-6337.

Nov 30 - MCC Thrift Store Volunteer Christmas Party, 12 noon at the Christian Fellowship Church in Steinbach. The sign-up sheet is at the store. All         volunteers are welcome.

 

**Inner-City Youth Alive is hosting a Christmas party    for the youth and their families in Winnipeg’s North End. You are invited to participate by           donating a gift ($10 value), by Dec 10. Call 582-8779 for more info.
