The Dual PINMATIC Harvester

Description:
The Dual PINMATIC Harvester has been designed to extract leafcutter bee larvae from polystyrene blocks. In the PINMATIC design, 3" and/or 3 3/4" polystyrene blocks are added to the simple gravity-feed input roller cage and removed from the output end in a continuous throughput. There are two input block streams (Dual) with the main punching head oscillating between the two streams. Leafcutter bee larvae are removed from a 30-tunnel row on the left block stream while the right stream advances to the next 30-tunnel row and vice versa. Thus, two 30-tunnel rows are processed each cycle. The harvester operates at approximately 70 cycles/minute, resulting in high block throughput.

History:
The Original PINMATIC Harvester, introduced in 1983, was designed to extract leafcutter bee larvae from 30 half-tunnel polystyrene boards. The success of this machine in removing larvae without separating the individual boards resulted in the development of polystyrene blocks.

The revolutionary Dual PINMATIC Harvester was designed to extract leafcutter bee larvae from these newly developed blocks. Since the fall of 1990, PINMATIC harvesters have been marketed into most of the major leafcutter bee regions in western Canada and the western United States. The harvesters have performed extremely well in all regions even though the growing conditions and leafcutter bee management techniques varied considerably.

Note:
The names of growers using PINMATIC harvesters in your region are available upon request.
