The Native Addictions Council of Manitoba is now offering services to youth ages 13 to 25 (exceptions may apply). Please contact the office either by telephone or in person and ask to speak with the youth counselor at ext. 207 for more information.The Mission of the Youth Program
The mission of the youth outreach program is to help young people heal through the use of culturally based therapy, traditional ceremonies and individual counseling. In order for the youth to heal from their addictions they must first acknowledge contributing factors to their addictions.Youth Services
On weekdays, our youth counselor offers assessments, individual counseling, and access to other agencies and access to other agencies and access to other services provided at N.A.C.M.The youth counselor provides a safe environment for one to one counseling, encouragement, support and motivation for personal growth, achievements and accomplishments, respecting the confidentiality of our youth.
All youth in the program have access to the cultural cermonies and teachings that all other N.A.C.M. clients have access to, the services provided and topics discussed are:
Registration forms will be filled out with the youth counselor. Once packages are completed an assessment will be conducted to determine further action. Kookums Camp
Each year N.A.C.M. holds a youth camp, called Kookums Camp for 20 - 25 youth. Kookums Camp may be held more than once a summer. This annual event is to create awareness not only with the participants, but their families as well. Concentrating on prevention and Native Spirituality is the essence of the camp. All sleeping equipment and food are provided as well as transportation to and from the camp grounds. Children with at least one parent who can attend will be given preference, space is limited for camp. More details for this will be posted at N.A.C.M. as well as on this website, in June/July. This summer, will also be full of other day activities including trips to the zoo, the park, the beach and much more. More details on this will be posted at N.A.C.M., as well as on this website in June/July. Fundraisers will be held for these events, such as car washes and garage sales. The youth program at N.A.C.M. is open to working with other agencies in order to work better with youth.
