This six-week outreach healing program provides valuable healing and learning opportunitites for Native Women who have been impacted by the legacy of Residential Schools addictions and other issues. As part of this program we also provide support to youth of women who register. Women in the program will be asked to identify a child/children or sibling(s) (age 10-25) to participate in the Youth Outreach component of the program. Come learn about self through a series of healing activities and information sessions. This is also an opportunity to strengthen families.
The women and youth will connect with each oter in the fifth week to address their relationship issues, healing needs and plans. Individual counseling will also be available to the women and youth.
Registration is limited to up to 20 women for each six-week cycle.

Goal: To enhance capacity of First Peoples Women and youth to address the healing needs of Residential School Survivors and their descendants; to assume leadership roles in the community; and to develop programs that are central to the healing process of First Peoples Survivors and their decendants.
The Program: The Women's Sage Healing Program is a six-week, Home Based and Outreach Program for women, who have been impacted by the legacy of Residential Schools. Utilizing First Peoples cultural knowledge, history, and healing methods, the program addresses individual, family and relationship issues through a series of healing and information sessions.
Through this program, women have the opportunity to learn how the legacy of Residential Schools have impacted thier lives. Holistic in design, the program offers forums where individuals can come and examine their own issues in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Criteria for Intake: The program can register up to 20 seats per program for Native Women. Those who register will be required to take the program on a daily basis Monday to Friday. The critieria for registration into the program is:
To have a minimum of 6 weeks of sobriety and/or have completed an addictions treatment program.
To have a commitment to address the impacts of the legacy of Residential School on self and family.
To have a desire for personal growth and healing.
Have a commitment to participate in Native cultural activities and learn about traditional methods of healing.
If possible, include a member of your family who is considered a youth. This youth member will be supoorted in part by our youth consellor.
To have a support system in place, which could include a counsellor, family member, friend, or other support person while taking this program.
To be stabilized in areas of housing, basic needs, child-care, etc. This will ensure that those who register have support and give full commitment to the program.Referral/Intake Procedure:
Contact program staff for referral package; all forms must be completed and returned. Acceptance and notification of start date will be confirmed by staff. Referral agents are responsible for arranging tranportation to and from our facility

Failure to comply with Native Addictions Council of Manitoba's rules and breaching confidentiality will result in immediate discharge
The Closed Group Session Include (but not limited to):
The examination of Intergenerational Impact of Residential School and the root causes of Addictions on First Nation people, family issues, trust-building, self-esteem, family mapping, family violence and abuse, loss and grief and colonization
The opportunity to utilize cultural methods to address healing from the impact of Residential School. This includes: Learning to communicate, self/gender issues.
Restoration of traditional roles and teachings for women and families. Including: traditional teachings, traditonal values and traditonal family roles, an opportunity to attend a sweat lodge, meeting with an elder and traditional ceremonies
Understanding how the Residential School impacts on family through a series of sessions that addresses how to rebuild healthy families.
Upon completion of the program, women celebrate their role in healing and the restoration of self, family and community.
Open Group:
Upon completion of the six week closed group women's sage healing program, the women are invited to continue their healing by attending the open group survivor's group meetings.
