Space Requirements for The New Facility

ADMINISTRATION

Current: Different office spaces are required which include:

  • The Executive Director's Office - approx. 70 sq. m.
  • Secretary with resources, files - approx. 60 sq. m.
  • Waiting room - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • Finance office - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • Resource person - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • Fundraiser's office - approx. 50 sq. m. (5 year plan)

OUTREACH PROGRAM:

  • 4 Counselling offices - each office approx. 50 sq. m. = 200 sq. m. (This includes 3 outreach offices and 1 youth office)
  • An outreach meeting room for about 50 people - approx. 125 sq. m.
  • A youth activity room for about 40 people - approx. 100 sq. m.
PRITCHARD HOUSE TREATMENT PROGRAM:
  • Supervisor's office - approx. 70 sq. m.
  • Intake counsellor's office - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • Record keeper's office - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • 7 counsellor's offices - approx. 50 sq. m. each
  • 1 night attendant office - approx. 30 sq. m.
  • 1 medicine and intercall room - approx. 30 sq. m.
  • 1 meeting room for about 60 people - approx. 130 sq. m.
  • 40 - bedrooms with shared toilets & bathrooms - 5 of these rooms are to be for 'couples' and the remaining 35, for singles - approx. 30 sq. m. per room & 40 sq. m. per 'couple' room.
  • 1 laundry room with washers & dryers - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • 1 dining room - approx.90 sq. m.
  • 1 kitchen - approx. 60 sq. m.
  • 1 weight room - approx. 25 sq. m.
  • 1 family reconciliation/conferencing room - approx. 60 sq. m.
  • 2 T.V. rooms - approx. 40 sq. m. each
  • 1 woodshop area - approx. 100 sq. m.
  • 1 resource library for clients - approx. 30 sq. m.
  • 1 custodian office - approx 30 sq. m.
  • 1 maintenance person office with tools and supplies - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • 1 meditation room - approx. 50 sq. m.

    PROFESSIONAL CLINIC AND PERSONNEL:
    NACM will accommodate sufficient space for the following professional personnel:
  • Sufficient space for a clinic area - approx. 70 sq.m.
  • A doctor's office - approx. 70 sq. m.
  • A nurse's office - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • A therapist office - approx. 70 sq. m.
  • A health worker - approx. 50 sq. m.


  • WOMEN & YOUTH HEALING PROGRAM
  • Coordinator's office - approx. 70 sq. m.
  • An assistant coordinator - counsellor's office - 50 sq. m.
  • 2 counsellor offices - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • 1 meeting room for about 40 people - approx. 100 sq. m.


  • STORAGE SPACE AND EMERGENCY
  • A storage area for cleaning and household supplies - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • An emergency supply room - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • A food storage area - approx. 50 sq. m.
  • A file and office supply storage area - approx. 50 sq. m.

  • BOARD ROOM
  • 1 board room to accommodate about 10 people - approx. 80 sq. m.


  • TOILET SPACE
  • Men's and women's toilet space to be provided near:
  • Waiting room - approx. 25 sq. m.
  • Administration area - approx. 25 sq. m.
  • Meeting room area for Pritchard House - approx. 25 sq. m.
  • Meeting room area for Outreach program - approx. 25 sq. m.
  • Meeting room area for Women & Youth Healing Program - approx. 25 sq. m.
  • At least 1 bathroom should be "wheelchair accessible" - approx. 50 sq. m.


  • PRESENT OCCUPANCY:
    A recent survey of the general occupancy of the building located at 160 Salter St. outlined the following estimate for the floor area:
  • BASEMENT - - - - 12,950 sq. ft.
  • MAIN FLOOR - - - - 11,490 sq. ft.
  • SECOND FLOOR - - - - 11,490 sq. ft.
  • THIRD FLOOR - - - - 5,760 sq. ft.
  • TOTAL PRESENT USAGE - - 41,690 sq. ft.


  • General Preferences for Design of Facility
    It is the general preference for the new design of the facility that accommodation be made for at least two floors. We see the treatment facility in the upstairs area which will be accessible by elevator or by a wheelchiar accessible means. Accordingly, the following can be designed in the new facility:
  • Main Floor
    • Administration offices (330 sq. m.)
    • Outreach Program (425 sq. m.)
    • Recreation area (pool, gym, sauna & hot tub) (400 sq. m.)
    • Board room (80 sq. m.)
    • Women and Youth Healing Program (320 sq. m.)
    • New areas of consideration (150 sq. m.)
    • Professional clinic and personnel (310 sq. m.)
    • Storage space and emergency (200 sq. m.)
    • TOTAL - APPROX. 2,215 SQ. M.
    • Second Floor
    • Pritchard House Treatment with offices and 40-bed facility including kitchen and dining areas (2,285 sq. m.)

    TOTAL - APPROXIMATELY 2,285 SQ. M.


    CONCLUSION
    There would be flexibility, however, in doing the actual design of the facility in order to accommodate all these respective components. The estimates, upon second consideration, may not be totally accurate. However, they do express that space is required to meet a certain occupancy objective.
    Once the design of the facility has been achieved to everyone's satisfaction along with the projected cost estimates, N.A.C.M., along with all parties, will endeavor to finance the construction of the facility.
