Gambling Program

N.A.C.M.'s Gambling Program is a live-in treatment program for gambling dependent individuals and their spouses, enabling them to develop a comprehensive treatment recovery plan. Some serivces provided include:

  • Gambling Information sessions
  • Counselling
  • Assessments
  • Native Cultural relevant services
  • Community Workshops
  • Therapeutic sessions
  • Family Dynamics

    Assessments for the program are by appointment or walk-in. Referrals for the live-in treatment program can be made by obtaining a referral package. Contact the front desk 586-8395, extension 241 ask for Barry Fontaine, or email for more information.


    Referral Procedures

    1. This will apply to all referral sources. I.E. Corrections, NNADAP workers, mental health workers, etc.
    2. Transportation must be arranged before and after treatment program for your clients. Also intake be informed of arrangements made.
    3. Try to include a brief outline of your clients treatment history. This information will be relevant.
    4. If they are connected with corrections or legal organizations, please have all relevant material forwarded to us.
    5. Please have proper referral forms completed (2) two weeks prior to treatment. Registration, medical assessment, and legal forms should be completed.

    Selection Criteria

    1. All participants must abstain from all forms of gambling.
    2. A willingness to work toward overcoming the problem areas of one's life is essential.
    3. All court appearances must be dealt with before or after the treatment program.
    4. All participants must abstain from all other chemicals i.e. alcohol, drug, solvents.
    5. Participants must be at least one month chemically free prior to treatment.
    6. All program participants must be physically and mentally capable of actively participating in all aspects of the program.
    7. All participants will be encouraged to participate in the native cultural component of the program. A willingness to participate will be required.
    8. Residents are responsible for supplying the following:

      Towels for personal use
      Clothing appropriate to the season and length of stay
      Personal hygienic products such as shampoo, toothpaste, shaving supplies, sanitary napkins, etc.

    Rules Outline

    1. Every morning will begin with (prayer and smudge) this will take place at 9:00 am on weekdays and at 11:00 am on weekends.
    2. Phone calls and visits are allowed only after one week in treatment. Residents will also abstain from outside activities.
    3. Full attendance and active participation is required during group sessions.
    4. Participants will be assigned chores to help with the responsibilities of the building.
    5. All residents are to use the front entrance of the building due to the alarm system.
    6. No smoking in bedrooms, kitchen, meeting rooms, etc. Smoking only in designated areas of the building at specific times.
    7. Residents will not be allowed in Pritchard House treatment areas. (Only with permission)
    8. Any use of alcohol, illicit drugs, or gambling will result in immediate discharge from the program.
    9. Residents will not be allowed to carry large amounts of money.
    10. Every resident will be responsible for their own laundry.
    11. All residents assigned linen will be required to wash and return them on discharge date.
    12. Recreationall room will be used only at specific times.
    13. All clients must provide the following for themselves:

      Tobacco
      Shampoo
      Towels
      Bus/Cab fare to and from centre
      Social Insurance Number
      Medical Number
