| Fundraising: Quilts and
artwork were raffled. Craft sales were held. Grants were applied for.
Dauntingly, yet encouragingly, a $16,000 matching grant was approved from
the Provincial Heritage Grants Program. MWAC set about raising equal funds.
An auction of antiques and collectibles was held on September 2, 1996,
bringing in over $11,000. Community support was overwhelming, with donations
of items supplying the goods for sale. Ongoing fundraising includes Tea at the Bank, the Buy-a-Brick program, the Annual Craft Sale, raffles and the silver collection in the main gallery.
