CCR Words

Collected by Matt Loewen

A while ago I noticed that some words contained at least two C's and at least one R, and I dubbed these CCR Words, splitting them into four groups:

I don't record every single word I find, usually just root words. ie. `circle` is in my list, but not 'circular'. Doing otherwise could make it indefinitely long. However, sometimes forms of words turn them into CCR Words. ie. `sarcasm' is not, but 'sarcastic' is. As well, if a word can fit into two categories, like 'recalcitrant', I place it in the higer ranking one.

I don't speak French, Spanish, or German, but I have small dictionaries of the languages and that is where I found those words.

Tidbits

Shortest words: cric (lever), croc (hook) in French

Also: occur, crack, crick, crock, Accra (capital of Ghana)

Longest words: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosises - a lung disease of miners (I found it in the Guinness Book of World Records. Say it five times fast! 6 c's and 2 r's)

Überschallgeschwindigkeiten - supersonic speed (German)

Highest "Density": raccrocher (recover in French). 6 of the 10 letters are c or r, and it is First, Third, and Fourth Class!
