For over two years (Feb. `92 to mid `94) I kept a tally of CCR songs I heard on the radio. Eventually I kept forgetting to mark songs down and decided to stop since the total was almost five hundred. Virtually all of the songs were heard on one of two local Winnipeg radio stations that I frequently listen to - 92 CITI FM, a "new rock" station with some classic rock; and 97.5 FM, a classic rock station with some new rock. As you would expect from such stations, "Susie Q", "Born On the Bayou", and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" were played regularly, but surprisingly (I think) also "Hey Tonight", "Bad Moon Rising", and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain". Predictably, songs like "Long As I Can See the Light", "Who'll Stop the Rain", and "Lodi" were played less often. Some of the tally (notably the three instances of the "Grapevine" 4-minute single) were from a third oldies station (KY 58 AM) that I listened to during the first few months of my survey. The songs with (97.5) after them I have only heard on that station. The others are played on both. This tally is probably of no practical use but it's interesting anyway.

* - I was shocked when I heard the opening funky bit one afternoon, but the DJ cut the song off at the start of the bass solo. Maybe he thought it was over, but I think he had wanted to play "Molina" and didn't want to get screwed up in his timing. When he read back the songs at the end of the set, he paused and said, unsure of himself "That was CCR, On the Move"!
Notice that every one of these songs is on one of the 'Chronicle` hit collections, and I figure the stations' only Creedence is on these two CD's. Just ONCE I'd love to hear "Susie Q" continue beyond the fade, or "99 1/2" or "Effigy" or "Chameleon", etc. If I was the Program Manager.... But if they have the Chronicles, why do they never play "Walk On the Water" or "Pagan Baby" or "Tombstone Shadow" or "Someday Never Comes" - maybe I should try and request them and see what happens.

By album, the tally break-down is thus:
Total: 486 songs heard
