A corded coat is another permitted
alternative for the Havanese and are
a perfect choice for Teddy, from
Smallhaven. At about 9 months of
age, cords begin forming as the soft
undercoat wraps around the new
longer outercoat. As they grow,
cords must be regularly separated
by hand so they develop properly. |

Following in the footsteps of his
father Teddy, here is Max who makes
his home at the Fuzzy Farm. Shown
here at two years of age, his cords still
have a long way to grow. A corded
puppy may look like an unkempt
bundle of knots but just wait.....

And now Max as an adult.
During the cording process, such a
coat is quite a bit of work. Once fully
formed and mature though, a corded
coat is lower maintenance.
Wavy coats are the likeliest to cord
naturally. |
