About the pictures on my website...

Most of the pictures on my website are of models built and photographed by the kit manufacturer. I have posted pictures of models that I have built personally HERE. Since each model could take many months to make, a person couldn't possibly build everything that is available. I post the photos to show prospective clients what the finished model may look like, and in almost all cases, the model I build will be of a higher quality than those in the manufacturer's photographs.

It's shown with copper, but I would like natural wood....

I generally like models that resemble the way the real ship would have appeared, but some people like the look of the wood and don't want it covered up. When commissioning a model, way the it is finished will be up to you. If the ship is shown with copper or white paint on the bottom and you would prefer natural wood, then that is the way I will build it. This decision won't usually change the price.

Selecting the display you prefer

Unless you want something special, your ship model will come on a display base designed to hold a glass or plexiglass case. This is included in the price. This base can be made out of any type of common wood that you choose. I can also provide a plexiglass dust case to protect your model. The bases can also be built as a shelf with or without a case.

The cost for an acrylic dust case would be as follows:

Model length up to:

24" - $100.00 us
24" - 36" - $180.00 us
36" - 48" - $330.00 us
Over 48" - I'll get a quote.

Shipping Information

I will package your model in a strong, double crate with padding to protect it. This is included in the purchase price. In most cases, I will also provide shipping anywhere in the continental United States or Canada via air cargo*. This will take 2 or 3 days and the model will be available for pick up at your nearest large airport.

Crating and shipping are included in the purchase price! *

*There may have to be an additional charge for extremely large models or difficult locations, but this will be addressed at the beginning of the project. It's only been a problem once with a very large model.

Method of Payment

I will require 10% of the total cost up front for kit built models, and 25% for scratchbuilt. This could be in the form of a personal cheque.

During construction I will send you photos of the progress periodically via email. On completion of the model, I will again send you a set of detailed pictures and require the remaining 90% before shipment.

For the final payment you can use a credit card, or transfer directly from your account through Escrow.com. or Paypal. I can also accept wire transfers.

Due to recent bank policy changes, personal cheques as well as certified cheques are held for 30 days before clearing. Because of this, I will no longer be accepting personal cheques for the final payment, and will only accept bank cheques if I receive them 30 days before I ship the model.
