It's Easter Time!!! To our surprise the Pekin ducks made the front page of the local paper. So exciting for all of us, Thank you. Most of the kids recognized them right away. Tonight we were able to walk the woods in search of deer antlers left behind by the local deer. We place found antlers in the rabbit hutch's so the rabbit's can chew them. Another way that nature show us all that we work together to benefit all. Nothing happens without a reason. With the longer daylight hours we are able to do so much more outside. Come summer we look forward to our usual tuesday meetings and we will also be doing once a month saturday meetings ,to enjoy things that take longer. Like campfire and camp outs!!

Signs of Spring! Today the Trackers looked for "Signs of Spring". We found grass starting to grow under the old growth. We also spoted many birds returning from the warm south, including the Canadian Geese. We looked closely at the trees to discover buds starting to appear on the branches as well as many insects.

Anola "Trackers" check out pond life!!! When you see a pond, you see water. When you look at a pond carefully, you see a whole other world. The Trackers were excited to investigate the life in a pond. Each Tracker was given a bucket of water from the pond and were told to look at it, then tell us what they saw. Most looked quickly and saw dirty water. We then looked closely at each bucket, which each contained 5 or 6 insects from water spiders to snails and a whole variety of life even a beetle with eggs attacked to back legs. They were surprised to see how much you saw when you really look carefully. We all took turns catching other things in the pond and putting then into the buckets. Everything we found will be put into an aquarium to watch for awhile. We did not see any tadpoles yet, which was what we were looking for originally. We will continue to watch and add to our pond tank.
