DUCKS OF THE 10 ACRE WOODS
In July 2003 we added a pair of Muscovy ducks to our woods. After doing some research into their habits, they are well recgonized for their control of the mosquito population. They are very affectionate with each other and are a joy to watch. Even though they do not make any noise unless startled they can be often heard whispering to each other. The Muscovy is also very good at hatching out young, ware as the Pekin eggs need to be artificially incubated. We Hatched 6 pekin Ducks in March 2004, of which we will keep 3. This will add yet another family to our woods for all to enjoy. In July 2004 we added four Rouen Ducks that brought in some nice coulor to our family of ducks. The Rouen Duck is part of the Mallard family, only twice the size. In September of 2004 we added a pair of Blue Swede ducks that our now at home with the others.
