The Christian and the Abortionist
Until 1969 abortion in Canada had been an underground enterprise. The procedure was normally performed in dirty back rooms housing temporary operating facilities by either rogue doctors or, in many cases, totally unqualified individuals. As a result, the death and maiming rate was quite high. Only the desperate or coerced would avail themselves of the facilities and their inherent danger.
The decades following World War II until the enactment of the ultimately devastating travesty called Abortion Law in 1969 was characterized by cries by "pro-choice" activists for fair treatment of the unfortunate. The totally false argument used then, and is often repeated today by the uneducated or those who would call upon false emotionalism to maintain their stance, was one that pointed out the shortcomings of these backroom facilities and the "absolute need" to provide a safe environment for this murderous procedure. As has been revealed by those who have realised the horrors of that which they previously supported, doctors and lay people, the claims of thousands of deaths annually in these backroom operating theatres were greatly exaggerated. The reality was in tens and well under the hundred mark.
Nevertheless, these pro-murder individuals stuck to their false data. They were claiming the rights of the mother-to-be over those of the human baby living in the womb. In succumbing to the pressure of these screaming hoards with their false data, the government of Canada led the way in North America by passing an Abortion Law 3 years prior to a similar travesty in the USA that was also based upon false and misleading claims.
The Churches were assured by the politicians of 1969 that the Abortion Law intended that such would be permitted in only the most severe of circumstances where the health of the mother was at risk. Further, each hospital would be required to have a committee to oversee the granting of abortions. Because of this unwritten guarantee (the Church leadership was naïve and gullible then as they are now) the mainline non-roman Catholic denominations went along with the then Liberal Government. However, it soon became obvious that many in the government as well as the pro-abortion activists had no intention of honouring such a commitment.
Shortly after the shoehorn being inserted into the doorway, there was great pressure by the liberally minded pro-abortionist lobby to widen the definition of health as it pertained to the mother carrying the baby. The initial intention had been for the physical health of the mother to have to be in danger in order for the procedure to be considered. The pro-abortion lobby employed the help of the psychological community that was trying to legitimize its questionable trade at the time to show that the mental health of the mother was just as crucial as the physical health. Again, utilising dubious data, the movement persuaded the government and hospital boards to include mental health. And, while this was against the wishes of the Churches, the political correctness was to go along with widening the doors of infanticide.
Once the doors had been so opened, the concept of health was further widened to include being unhappy with the concept of being pregnant – no matter how the individual had achieved the status. As a result, the hospital committees of doctors, administrators, social workers, etc. found themselves, for the most part, being the activators of a rubber stamp. In short, they had been rendered useless by the murderous onslaught.
But the pro-murder of unborn children lobby was not yet finished. It was now time to accost the whole concept of the hospital committee as being demeaning to the mother. It was purported that the matter should be simply between a mother-to-be and her doctor with no other intervention. In 1989 the Supreme Court of Canada predictably upheld the continued legalized murder by striking down the whole abortion law. The matter had been removed from the realm of morality and health to that of "political rights" of one human being to destroy another human being for the personal goals of the first human being who had taken an active part in the actual creation (conception) of the second human being.
The National Organization of Women (NOW) in the USA has taken the quest for the murder to new heights. Less than a year ago an article on their WEB site portrayed the foetus in the womb as a violator of a woman’s health. The ensuing justification for abortion was that a woman has a right to defend her body against the violent attack of the unborn child. Here, again, the "political rights" of one human being to destroy another human being for the personal goals of the first human being who had taken an active part in the actual creation (conception) of the second human being were being affirmed. In fact, the implication of that article is that, if a woman does not exercise her "right" to an abortion she is not being faithful to the cause of women.
The end result of the dedicated work of Canadian politicians and their corrupt court system has been the replacement of less than half of one hundred deaths per year (50 per year) of women who chose the backroom clinics to destroy conceived and living human beings with the legalized murder of millions of unborn children – more than one hundred and ten thousand in Canada in 1998, more than one hundred and five thousand in 1999, and more than one hundred and five thousand in the year 2000 alone. In addition to that has been a tremendous growth in abortion related health problems amongst women undertaking the procedure.
The amazing thing is that many Christians have become complacent to this holocaust against Canadian children. They would deplore the events against the Jewish people in Nazi Germany – and so they should – but no hewn cry is going up, save from a few concerned individuals, to protect the human lives of these unborn human beings.
Oh, it is true that the government and the courts have tried to make things seem right by declaring that the child is not human until it is a breathing being out of the womb. But, given today’s technology, let alone the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, it is impossible in this day and age to deny the humanity of the foetus in the womb.
The original abortion law of 1969 was based upon the well-being and the physical health of the mother. And, as such, it had some redeeming value. The concept was that, if the mother’s life was at risk, especially if she has other children at home to care for, the procedure could be permitted.
But, of course, this wasn’t the real goal of the liberal democrat driven pro-murder activists. Like most functioning under the guise of the "good of humanity" these people, whether knowingly or not, were advancing the cause of those who would make millions in the establishment of the "clinics" established to commit such murder in a legalized fashion. "Counsellors" in family planning institutions have been found to be on commission from such clinics. Physicians who have been sickened by their own immoral actions in these clinics and who have left to join the anti-abortionist movements, have revealed the kind of profits such clinics generate. Playing upon the political rights of women, and the coerciveness of family, boyfriends,, etc. these clinics convince women (often young girls) that their well-being demands they undergo the "process of early termination of pregnancy" (a term designed to take away the concept of murder that is inherent in the term abortion).
While the politicians in both Canada and the USA were duped by the outright dishonesty of the pro-abortion lobby, their initial intention was, at least outwardly, the physical health of the mother and the well-being of the family. But the truth is that the opposite is the reality.
While the pro-abortionist lobby stated that clean, readily available, easily accessed abortion "rights" would save the life thousands of women per year (in reality the figure was under 50) the reality is that undertaking to have an abortion leads to far greater health issues than were ever faced by those not having an abortion or going to an illicit backroom clinic.
While abortion seems like a "quick fix" to an unwanted pregnancy (in truth, for some women, it has become a form of post-conception birth control) the subsequent consequences were not foreseen and are now denied by the pro-murder groups. But statistics clearly illustrate that the health of the mother who has an abortion is severely affected.
In many cases, the emotional devatation of Post-Abortion Syndrome is totally overwhelming. While those who vehemently support this form of murder attempt to pooh -pooh such a form of distress, it does not take a rocket scientist to understand where such problems would originate. Firstly, in the depths of their being, even though an immediate problem has been alleviated, the mother who had the abortion knows that she has participated in the murder of a living human being. Secondly, that human being was inexorably attached to her. This attachment was not only physical but also emotional in the sense that it was part of her and conceived in a relationship, serious or not, that involved some form of love that allowed the sex act to be undertaken resulting in the conception of that human being. Thirdly, there is the ongoing wonderment of just who the child would have been and what part that child would have played in the life of the mother had the mother not chosen to abort the living human foetus. And fourthly, the third point is even more greatly enhanced, if, as is so often the case with abortions, the mother is rendered unable to have more children.
The results of these emotional consequences can be lifetime treatment for Post-Partum Depression to an even greater degree than that of a natural birth mother. This effect is particularly devastating for young teenagers whose parents or boyfriends have coerced them into the procedure. The depression seriously destroys the quality of life that the person may otherwise have experienced. And while it is countered that having an unwanted child can be just as bad, the truth is that people respond to their loved ones with being prepared to help with the live birth child while the mother who participated in the murder of such a child is often left as pariah who has committed the unthinkable and given no help from family and friends – even when they were the one pushing the individual into the procedure. If they do stick by such a mother, the message is generally, "Its done – get over it!"
This ongoing lifetime depression not only leads to reduced quality of life, it may also effect how the woman is able to relate to men for the rest of their lives. Even within marriage, every act of sex and every new birth (where such is possible) brings on and magnifies the concern for the child that was murdered earlier in life.
And, in far too many cases, this ongoing interminable depression leads the mother to such a state of hopelessness that the end result is suicide. And such suicides are avoidable. Good Christian Counselling could have saved the life of the child and enabled the mother to avoid the trauma of the murder. Sure, the period of pregnancy would have to be born. But the live birth of the infant removes the psychological conditions leading to depression and self-deprecation. The mother is free to determine the future of that child knowing the life has been given and protected in an unselfish loving human manner – even if the end result is the giving of the child for adoption.
However, the resultant health problems are not only mental and emotional. Doctors are linking abortion to many ensuing physical problems in the ongoing lives of mothers who have participated in an abortion. It has been shown that, for women who have had an abortion, the probability of future breast cancer is increased by 30% to 50%. This is in addition to physical scarring that may prevent future pregnancy or destruction of the womb that may make future pregnancy impossible. The incidence of ovarian problems resulting in hysterectomies is also notable. Also, it is not uncommon for women who have previously had an abortion to deliver subsequent children prematurely. In short, the abortion process short-circuits the natural progress of the sequence of conception, pregnancy, live birth, feeding, and nurturing of the human child. And, as such, it causes many problems related to such an immoral interruption.
The concept of the woman’s health being an issue justifying the murder of the human foetus in the womb (sometimes called abortion, often referred to as early termination of pregnancy) is just not viable or true. It is clearly evident that more health concerns are perpetrated by the immoral procedure than if the process was not legally available.
The Foetus is Only a Blob of Flesh
It has been widely held by pro-abortionists that the foetus is not really a human being but rather merely a blob of tissue forming in varying stage within the mother’s womb while it saps vitality and energy (i.e. exerts an attack upon) from the body of the mother. This view has been perpetrated by the source of much of Satan’s power in today’s world – the Supreme Courts of Canada and the USA. Generally staffed by socialist communist purveyors of the liberal democrat agenda, these bastions of immorality have augustly declared in direct opposition to the Creator God that a foetus is not human until the child has been born into the world and taken its first breath in the open air.
Such heresy is still upheld within the bastions of these institutions and by those others who also uphold the legalized holocaust against the unborn children of Canada. However, it is becoming more and more difficult to adhere to this position as technologies improve that show the clear distinct presence of a brain driven physically viable human being extant in the womb of the mother.
The so-called pro-choice groups do everything in their power to divert a potential candidate for abortion from viewing medical processes such as ultrasound views of that baby in the womb. They state that such is placing undue pressure on the mind of the pregnant woman. However, the real problem would seem to be that once a lady sees the life that is clearly formed and functioning within her (sees that it is not merely an indefinable blob of bloody flesh) she decides in favour of bearing the child. Not only does such a moral decision fly in the face of the purveyors of murder by causing the lady to not undertake her rights to destroy the infant within her but also it deprives the abortion industry of income.
It is now clear that the foetus is, in reality, a human being in the womb. The previously undefined mass of blood and tissue is no longer viable. Further, the woman does not have to wait for the trauma of witnessing the aborted foetus with definable body form forcing a tremendous mental and spiritual regret to exude from her being. She is now able to witness the viability and reality of the human within her and to then make a decision whether or not to murder her child within the walls of an abortion factory.
God Speaks Out Concerning the Unborn Child
.
The pro-choice members of society who purport to have some sort of respect for the Holy Scriptures and may even call themselves Christians are quick to point out that the Bible never uses the word abortion. They will quite self-righteously declare that this fact thus makes the decision for or against abortion to be a matter of personal choice in a liberal understanding of the Holy Scriptures.
However, nothing could be further from the truth. The Holy Word of God is replete and unique in its uncommon respect for human life. Throughout the Scriptures the concept of the premeditated killing of human beings is seen to be repulsive and morally unacceptable. It is totally seen as sin and is the direct subject of the Ten Commandments.
Jesus carried it further by stating that to hate a human being is tantamount to having committed murder. And what hate and anger must be in the heart of a mother who self-indulgently allows herself to undergo the process of abortion that results in the destruction of the human life within her.
The fact that the word abortion does not appear in any form including a prohibition of the practice is far from significant. The Bible sees the sanctity of the human being as being inviolable in all its stages of existence. Hence the rejection of murder applies to the foetus just as much as it applies to the child or adult life outside the womb.
In Psalm 139:13ff God lets humanity know that He is personally involved in the formation of the human being within the womb of the mother. The wondrous way in which the human being is formed and prepared for the life God has in store for him/her is magnificently astounding. God creates us with purpose and direction. The creation of the human being is not an accident but a planned developmental process that begins in the foreknowledge of God.
In Isaiah 49:5 Isaiah God tells us that He formed Isaiah in the womb to be His servant and to call Israel back to Him. In 44:2ff God makes references to all humanity being formed in the womb with purpose and design.
In Jeremiah 1:5 God speaks to the prophet who felt that he was unqualified to do the work to which God was calling him. God’s response was that not only within his mother’s womb but also before he was in his mother’s womb God knew him and planned for his future calling.
In St. Luke 1:41ff it is clearly seen that the humanity of John the Baptist in the womb of Elizabeth recognised the presence of the Christi Child in the womb of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. John leapt in the womb of Elizabeth because, in his humanity, recognised the special being not yet visible in the womb of the MBV Mary. How magnificent a demonstration the God has given us of the reality of the humanity and purpose of the foetus in the womb.
Of course, the humanist pro-abortionist response would be that it is incredible that God is involved in the conception of a specific child let alone every child and that God has a purpose for every conceived being. The question would be asked, "What about those conceived through what Christians would call sinful sexual activity?" Or, "What about children conceived through the process of rape?" Or, "What about the unwanted conception no matter how it is achieved?" There would then be a triumphal smile as if those questions destroy any concept of the presence or action of God.
However, the answer is quite simple. God acts with foreknowledge. While He does not cause the actions leading to all pregnancy, God knows and plans for every human being conceived in the womb. Each of these beings, according to His Divinely Inspired Word, has purpose and direction.
The sceptic would then ask (again triumphantly), "Does this mean that no human being has free choice of his/her own destiny?" And again the response is simple. Of course every human being has a freewill. And that will is to undertake the Will of God or to reject God and do his/her own thing. The Scripture says that all human beings are predestined to God and His Divine Will. But, with the Gift of Freewill the human being is open to choosing God’s Way and Eternal Life in Jesus or rejecting God’s Way and choosing Eternal Condemnation in Satan’s abode.
It would seem that God and the angels rejoice in those who accept their purpose and goals in life and weep over those who go their own way.
Thus, God is involved in the life of every human being before the womb, in the womb, and in life lift on earth outside the womb. God has purpose and direction for every life in the great mosaic of Creation. While God is present and ready to assist in the achieving of these purposes, God does not force Himself upon anyone.
It is true that, if all followed God’s Will, there would be no illness, no poverty, no sin, no abortion. But, since God allows humankind free choice there will always be abominations caused by the satanic guidance of human will, and indeed by the fallen human will in itself, over against God’s calling of the human will. As such, it is not surprising that human beings choose to destroy other human beings, even those created by their own participatory action that are not convenient or pleasing to the selfish sinful human mind.
While pro-abortionists see no problem with such murders, God’s view is that human life is sacred and to be respected and saved at all costs. Thus, only those who wilfully walk against the Divine Will could continue their murderous ways. Those who trust in God will always protect the unborn human life.
The Christian and the Abortionist
Christians have had varying responses to the abortionists in this world. Many of these responses have been totally irrelevant and unacceptable. In responding to the proponents of such immorality it is incumbent upon Christians to remember their heritage as Christians. While the greatest of violence is being imposed upon the defenceless, the appropriate Christian response is to reach out to the murderers with love and concern demonstrating the Gospel by deed and word.
While the current practice of the pro-abortion lobby is to attempt to intimidate those who would oppose them and to have laws made that would make effective repudiation difficult if not impossible, Christians must not be cowered but must be ready to logically refute such activities. When the pro-abortionist were trying to be heard their cry was for fairness and free speech. But now that abortion is seen is a right of any mother to kill her unborn child, the pro-abortionists attempt to muzzle and shout down any attempt to speak against their license to kill. Christians have to learn to oppose the abortinists with the Love of Christ and the power of God’s Holy Spirit.
This in no way means condoning the murder and destruction that is going on within the abortion factories. It does not mean accepting the immoral politically driven decisions of the governments and the courts. But rather it means standing firm in opposition to the actions encouraging, supporting, and performing abortions while reaching out with love and the love of god in calling people out of their commitment to such immorality.
The Christian is called to openly and honestly stand in opposition to laws and practices supporting the moral decay of the land. It is incumbent upon Christians to speak for and teach the Will of God to a society that is largely ignorant of God and His Will. Christians are also called to pray for those who support and practice this abominable process.
Some Christians have resorted to standing before abortion Christians in order to protest the immoral murderous actions going on therein. And this is a valid process if it is undertaken with prayer. However, the shouting of rude and crude remarks to those entering the buildings is totally counterproductive. Those who have undertaken violent acts aimed at destroying the building and the people therein are certainly misguided. And to undertake to kill a doctor because he/she performs abortions is lowering oneself to the level of the abortionist a committing equal unjustified sin.
Thus, the Christian is called upon to walk a very fine line. On the one hand, it is essential to stand against the murderous practice perpetrated by the pro-abortionist lobby, the abortionists themselves, and the governments and court systems that guarantee their right to continue their legalized murder. On the other hand, it is necessary to reach out with prayer and the demonstration of the Love and Call of God to those who are steeped in the sin of their ways not forgetting our own sin and Salvation in Jesus Christ.
The goal is to demonstrate the horrors of the holocaust against the unborn children of Canada and North America. In such a demonstration the Christian is to provide fertile ground in which the Holy Spirit can convict the perpetrators of such horros and call them to the salvation of Christ.
In order to accomplish this, it is necessary to continue to lobby the political and the judicial arenas in an attempt to get these people to realise that what they are authorizing and supporting is, in reality, nothing less devastating than such things as the holocaust in Nazi Germany, the genocide of Kosovo, or the murderous onslaughts in the Sudan. Educational programs must be undertaken in Churches and throughout society demonstrating the horrors and consequences of abortion to the world around us. Those participating in the acts of abortion or in the encouragement of individuals to make use of such abominable practices and procedures must be shown the full horrors and consequences of their actions.
Surrounding this must be a total attitude of prayer and love that will permeate the whole of society. Pro-life must be seen as really loving and caring movement in Christ. It must be impossible for the perpetrators of murder to relegate pro-life actions to the lunatic fringe. It must be impossible for such persons to hold onto the concept that such horrors are the just right of thinking human beings. Rather the actions of Christians must be such that people so involved can do none other than doubt the efficacy and righteousness of their actions in the light of a Loving and Redeeming God in Jesus Christ.
