"HORROR HAS A NEW HOME." - Front Cover

Summary

"He sells the American Dream...but in this neighborhood dreams turn into nightmares!

John Ritter is real estate agent Bob Carter, a likeable neighborhood realtor who's having a tough time selling his three top listings. Sure, the homes have blood-soaked histories. True, the owners are all dead or insane. But these are top-notch houses! In turnkey condition! Ready to move in!

When Bob takes prospective buyers Allen and Mary Ann Doyle to each of the three homes, recounting the gory details of the horrible fate of the previous owners, they become apprehensive about signing on the dotted line. Yet, unbeknownst to the Doyle's, Bob Carter works for an agency whose incentive plan is so good, he would just kill to make a sale." - Back Cover

Soundtrack - 2.5 Sticks of Butter

This movie most definitely did not have a soundtrack akin to Three's Company. It was yet another average soundtrack.

Plot - 3 Sticks of Butter

While I am not found of movies that are a compilation of short stories this one was fairly well put together - unlike some. The reasons for the stories within a story made sense in this film and worked well with the main plot. I also thought that the mini-stories were quite entertaining - with the exception of the second one. However I did find that some of the stupidity of the characters took away from the plot.

Action - 2.5 Sticks of Butter

Each of the stories had their own plot and action. Out of all of the films though the story for the second house was probably the most action packed. This was the one story I did not enjoy because I did not think that it was well rounded enough.

The movie begins quite action packed, with a laser vs shotgun battle almost right away. The Night Beast's laser disintegrator ray gun was both a fashionable accessory for the well designed creature, and also worked on eliminating its enemies.

Effects - 2.5 Sticks of Butter

There were very few special effects in the movie, some make-up magic. The make-up was done extremely well. So even though there were not many effects I passed this movie for them.

Characters - 3.5 Sticks of Butter

Can we say John Ritter? That alone is worth the rating of 3.5 Sticks of butter! Long live Mr. Ritter. The couple he was showing the house to were also quite entertaining and I enjoyed the interaction between Bob and Allen. Towards the end of the movie the entire cast seemed to shine!

Overall Impressions - 3 Sticks of Butter

This movie while not my favorite type, it stared John Ritter! So it gets a pass by default. The very ending is what brought the movie up to a three. Even though it's not my cup of tea I recommend people watch it for the ending alone.
