"HE'LL GET UNDER
YOUR SKIN" - Front Cover
Summary
"Whoever you are,
whatever you know, Nothing will prepare you for the
horror of Heidi's (Traci Lords) nightmare. Stalking the
backstreets and rivers of the city where he preys,
psychopath Dennis Skinner (Ted Raimi), wields a
sickening assortment of blades and cleavers for his
grotesque mission of murder. Heidi vows to stop him
before he strikes again as he stalks unsuspecting
hookers and his landlady (Ricky Lake). She tracks the
trail of mutilated bodies to an abandoned warehouse just
as Skinner's carving knives are poised for his next
victim. Violent and disturbing effects make Skinner one
of the most terrifying films you will ever see." - Back Cover
Soundtrack - 0 Sticks of Butter
I'm certain Skinner would have had a notable
soundtrack, however due to either a poor previously viewed copy, a mono
television and VCR, or plain ol' poor production the soundtrack more often then
not overwhelmed the dialog. When their was no musical score the dialog could be
heard a smidgen better, but even then it was muffled and difficult to
understand.
Plot - 3 Sticks of Butter
While not the most plot heavy movie I've ever
seen gave it a 3. Although the movie leaves much unexplained I feel as if for
the type of thriller it was the plot was satisfactory. I do believe that much of
the plot was lost due to the poor sound quality of the film/video cassette.
Action - 3 Sticks of Butter
Oh, yeah this movie was action packed! Granted
until about the halfway point of the movie it isn't...still the second half more
than makes up for the movies slow start.
Effects - 3.5 Sticks of Butter
While this movie does not have huge car crash
scenes or giant octopi it did have a great deal of make-up effects. These were
extraordinarily gruesome for a film of this caliber. I was more than pleased
with the effects, and they made the picture worth watching even with the poor
sound quality.
Characters - 3 Sticks of Butter
Wow! This film had an all star line up! Ricky
Lake and Ted Raimi. Okay who gives a rat's butternut about Ricky, it had Ted
Raimi as the main character!! Just for that alone 4 sticks of
butter. The rest of the cast also did an excellent job, thus the extra .5.
Overall Impressions - 4 Sticks of Butter
The sound quality was poor, and there was a bit
too much water for me in this movie, but the film was quasi-disturbing, and it
starred Ted Raimi. A good movie to grab some popcorn (a stereo TV & VCR may
help) turn down the lights and invite that nice boarder that lives upstairs to
watch.
