Emily's Dream is a band that has evolved and matured substantially in the past 2 ½ years. We released "Tomorrow is Just a Memory" back in January of '97, and sold enough copies to almost cover our cost of recording. We split up for almost exactly a year between September of '98, and August of '99 that so I could attend school overseas, and so Kurt could attend school in BC. Since then, we have made a change to our line up by picking up a new drummer, and we are now back in the game. We've got a lot of new material to work through, and look forward to playing shows again, and the possibility of recording again in the future.
Emily's Dream is a Christian band. Each one of us in the band has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, and it is our goal as a band to somehow reach out to those who don't have what we have. It is my personal desire, that through performing to a live audience, people will be inspired to look at their own lives, and ask themselves what exactly it is that they are living for. Not only that, but to ask themselves why we as humans have been placed on this earth, and where they think that they are going to go when they die. Eternity is an awful long time, and I don't think that its really worth taking a chance and hoping that there is no heaven or hell.
The devil has a big grip on society, and a large part of that comes from his influence on secular bands and the music industry in general. I guess that as a band, we're trying to even the sides a little, and give Christians music that they can listen to without having to hear a secular message, but at the same time we're hoping that our music will help us to reach those who don't know Christ. All be it, not all of our songs have a straight forward Christian message, but rather, our songs are written from a Christian perspective, and they talk about whatever is relevant in our lives at the time that they are written. The Christian life is not as easy as people sometimes think that it should be, and it is often during times that I am experiencing doubts and struggles that I am inspired to sit down and write.
It is my earnest desire that our audience will be able to see where our music is coming from, and that it will in some way leave a lasting, positive impression on them. If you haven't seen us play before, I would encourage you to come and see what exactly it is that we're all about.
