Goto Song...

I wish that I could learn to fly
I wish that I could kiss this world good-bye
I'd live up in the sky
I'd wear a badge, and army boots
I'd learn of planes and space and parachutes
and maybe even how to shoot
don't give up yet
someday you'll learn to fly a jet
space cadet
last night I saw on HBO
an army guy putting on quite a show
he said enlistment was low
I grabbed a pen, and started to write
hoping that someday I would get a chance to fight
its everybody's right
don't give up yet
someday you'll learn to fly a jet
space cadet
I hit the ground as I was told
I joined the force at 17 years old
they said that I would fold
I live to serve the general
he's self-controlled, and disciplined and kind
in body and in mind
don't give up yet
someday you'll learn to fly a jet
space cadet
Free in their own backyard, a Tiger and his Boy
Their own imagination was their favorite toy
Their backyard universe took them where they wanted to go
The perils of society they would never know
Transmogrify the world, make it what you want it to be
You're different now so why not let everyone see
Hobbes was only real 'cause Calvin never ceased to believe
Well, isn't that how all of us should try to be
Susie Derkins was a sweet, sweet little girl
But when she heard of Calvin's lunch she would nearly hurl
She was only six and she worried about her weight
You know her relationship with Cal would never turn out great
Transmogrify the world, make it what you want it to be
You're different now so why not let everyone see
Hobbes was only real 'cause Calvin never ceased to believe
Well isn't that how all of us Christians should be
Transmogrify the world, make it what you want it to be
You're different now so why not let everyone see
No one ever could tell Calvin how to think or what to do
Oh Calvin, how can anyone pretend to know you
The house is dead and you're all alone
Sitting on that old beat up chair
You've been talking to your goldfish all day
You've convinced yourself that he really cares
Desperately you pick up the phone
Thinking of someone to call
But there is nobody home
Nobody no one at all
Its gonna be one of those days
When everything goes wrong
But I've been there before and I know that nothing lasts forever
Silently you stair at the wall
Slowly you are losing your mind
But you've got nothing to lose
When everybody's left you behind
So what can I say
Something that'll make the time pass
Something that'll help you through the day
But what can I do
When words of inspiration fail me
If you were me then they would fail you too
Its gonna be one of those days
When everything goes wrong
But I've been there before and I know that nothing lasts forever
But I've been there before and I know that nothing lasts forever
Life is a yellow brick road
And you know it's just like people always say
You're best to stay on that path
Or the flying apes will take you away
Look up, look all around
Don't let a moment pass you by
If you want to go home
You're gonna have to learn how to fly
You found your emerald city
But you just through it away
Sometimes you wish you could tap you heels
And leave it all behind
You found your emerald city
But you just through it away
Sometimes feel like your world is crashing down
And you don't know who to love
Sometimes you wish you could tap your heels
And leave it all behind
Your emerald city... - repeated-
My little red tricycle
It is my friend
It's always been there for me
It's there till the end
It goes with me everywhere
It follows me to school
Some kids think that I'm a dork
Some kids think I'm cool
But sometimes I'm greedy
Sometimes I find it hard to share
'Cause it's not always easy
I know that I'm no superman
I know that I'm no king
But with my little red tricycle
I can do anything
For lack of a better word
Please hear me out
My little red tricycle
Is what I'm all about
But sometimes I'm selfish
Sometimes I find it hard to share
'Cause it's not always easy
You left me just a memory
a broken heart
A fading photograph in
a book of lies
I thought that you were someone else
And you won't let me forget
I wanted to talk to you
you walked away
I tried coming after you
you turned away
You did what he asked you to
And now I just want to get away
Cause people change
And I won't look back anymore
Cause the past is too far behind
And I've got to move on
Cause now I see
I won't cry myself to sleep anymore
And I'll never look back
And I'll never look back
There's a girl named Jennifer
I saw her at lunch
She brushed against me with an accidental touch
And when I saw her smile at me, I used it like a crutch
But she will never know that she was my secret crush
A day when know one tells you where to go
When everybody loves you
And it's only your first show
Jennifer's airplane can't keep me from crashing down
Jennifer's airplane can't keep my crumbling world around
I'm drowning in the ocean
So give me some of that magic potion
With Jennifer's airplane I'll never get my feet off the ground
Me and Jennifer, we took a little trip
I'm in love with her, and she thinks I'm hip
So I decided to write her a poem
Unfortunately I forgot my glasses at home
A day when know one tells you where to go
When everybody loves you
And it's only your first show
Jennifer's airplane can't keep me from crashing down
Jennifer's airplane can't keep my crumbling world around
I'm drowning in the ocean
So give me some of that magic potion
With Jennifer's airplane I'll never get my feet off the ground
What did you mean when you said goodbye?
Did you want me to hold you when you started to cry?
You make me smile when you say "hi"
But when you talk to me, why can't you look me in the eye?
When we're together what goes on in your head?
Do you ever think of me when you lie awake in bed?
You told me we could be friends, and that you like the color red
But I will never know what you meant by what you said
I can only talk to your silly, yellow shoes
If I look up I'll see the flowers in your hair
And if I happen to glance in your eyes
All day I'll be wondering why that sparkle's there
I can only talk to your silly yellow shoes
If I look up I'll see the flowers in your hair
And if I catch that sparkle in your eyes
All day I'll be wondering why
I can only talk to your silly, yellow shoes
If I look up I'll see the flowers in your hair
And if I happen to glance in your eyes
All day I'll be wishing that you really cared
If everyone was eight feet tall, would you and I belong
If all my friends would tie their tongue's, would I still sing this song
Or would I fall
If you could be a celebrity, who would you choose to be
If that same choice were mine to make, there's only one person I'd want to be
And that's me
I don't care if you hate me, I don't care if I'm cool
I don't really care if I don't quite fit in
To be yourself is not a sin
If I sent flowers to all my friends, would they make fun of me
If I would sing for six straight hours, would you think less of me
Well I don't care at all
I don't care if you hate me, I don't care if I'm cool
I don't really care if I don't quite fit in
To be yourself is not a sin
Do you think that I'm groovy
Do you think that I'm cool
I don't care 'cause I've got a friend who likes me
just the way that I am
I don't care if you hate me, I don't care if I'm cool
I don't really care if I don't quite fit in
To be yourself is not a sin
I don't really care if I don't quite fit in
To be yourself is not a sin.
My best friend Heather put on her brand-new sweater
When it started to rain that day
It made her look so cool and some guys even started to drool
But she didn't fool me for a second
She didn't change my mind when she acted that way
We went for New York Fries and when I looked in her eyes
She said what do you want but her expression said go away
She said that we'd be friends but I knew that someday soon it would end
So why do you always pretend
That everything between us is okay?
When people ask her, "Are you for real?"
She lies and tells them that she's just like us
Then she turns away
But she's the only one
At the party
Who's never ever sitting by herself
Now I walk down the Ash street sidewalk on a Tuesday afternoon
With somebody else's best friend
But somehow we never talk any more except about music
And about other people's problems
How can they all be fooled by the show you put on?
When people ask her, "Are you for real?"
She lies and tells them that she's just like us
Then she turns away
But she's the only one
At the party
Who's never ever sitting by herself
She used to run through the rain wearing nothing at all
Until people started telling her that she'd slip and fall
So she bought that brand new sweater from straight off the shelf
She put it on and Heather lost herself
