One dollar notes from the Dominion of Canada

(The enlarged pictures are about 65 to 75k in size each.)

1878

This is the oldest note in my collection, printed in 1878. At the center front of the note is the Countess of Dufferin and on the center of the back is a picture of Queen Victoria sitting on a throne with the emblems of the original four provinces and the year of confederation flanking her.

1898

There was a bit of a problem in 1897 when the new issue of one dollar notes had the same colour of green as the two dollar notes of the same year. This created some confusion and these were replaced in 1898 with notes that were brown in the background. On the front is the Countess and Earl of Aberdeen, the Earl was the Governor General from 1893 to 1898. The center vignette portrays loggers working on the Ottawa River. The back is the same as the 1911 dollar.

1911

On the front of this note we have the Earl and the Countess of Grey, and on the back is the Paliament Buildings in Ottawa. The Earl was Canada's Governor General from 1904 to 1911. He was so popular that the government extended his term and no doubt helped to get him on the note above. Grey was a member of the House of Commons in England and for a time he was the Head Administrator for Rhodesia. He is the person of the Grey Cup fame.

All of the above notes are hand signed on the left, and are cut out by hand with large scissors, (which explains why some of these notes are little off kilter).

1923

George the 5th is featured on the 1923 note. George was second in line for the throne after Edward the 7th. His older brother was first in line but he died in 1896. This guy led a wild life style that makes the scandle around today's royals look pretty tame. The back of this note has the Library of Parliament at center which was built between 1860 and 1865. This was all that survived a fire in 1916 that burnt the original Parliament Buildings. The only thing that saved the library was that someone had closed the doors, which were usually left open, and kept the fire from spreading.

Un Sol - El Banco De Tacna

I don't know much about this note other than it is from Peru and it is lacking signatures. It is uncirculated and probably unissued. Any info would be appreciated.
