The author, Sharon Rose, was a stay-at-home wife and mother for over thirty years before embarking on her writing career. It was something she’d always dreamed about but never thought could be a reality. Where to begin? First, she completed a creative writing course with the Writing School in Ottawa, Canada. It was her introduction into the world of writing. How thrilling it was to have her first short story published in Woman’s World. Writing short stories, however, was not her dream. Her dream was to be a novelist! She sent her ideas to her personal tutor. He said, “Submit it!” A few weeks later she found out that PublishAmerica was willing to publish her first novel, Missed by a Hair. Her writing career had begun!

Ms. Rose and her husband live in Manitoba, Canada. They designed and built their own house in 1980. Their half-acre yard is filled with trees, flower gardens and vegetable gardens. In past years their lawn was used for a playground and their basement for band practice. It has been preserved for grandchildren!

When the cold winds of winter begin to blow they head for Galveston, Texas, where they have acquired many lasting friendships over the years. Although Ms. Rose was born in Canada, her roots are in the United States. Her father was born in North Dakota in 1897; her mother’s parents, in Minnesota in the early 1800’s. Their four children are married, three living in Canada and one in the United States.

I’ve been asked many times during the past few years why I write. To me, of course, this has always seemed an odd question; who doesn’t want to write? Must there be a reason? It did, however, make me stop and ponder: why do I enjoy writing so much? I have to admit that sitting in front of a blank computer screen with a brain to match, isn’t what anyone would term exciting - neither is my bank account. The excitement comes from the creating. With either a few words or many words, I can create a character who will switch on someone else’s imagination. Not only that, each person who reads it will see something entirely different! Can there be anything more exciting than that?”
