Work in Progress, Re-capped, with fuse before switch in Line (Hot) side of power cord, and polarized plug (0 volts on chassis, provided the house recepticle is wired properly). The cabinet was originally plain bakelite and painted by brush, to many brush marks for sanding to take out so stripping the paint seems the way to go. Stripping the paint revealed some nasty scratches so plain the plain bakelite look is out. The dial cover bubble is also missing. |

Chassis Before and after Re-capping, addition of fuse link, and terminal strip to mount new filter capacitors. |
After stripping, a thorough wet sanding with 320 grit was necessary to take out the nasty scratches. This also ensures good paint adhesion. |
