More of Fabian Del Priore's Creations (3 of 5)

Unfortunately, now we skip from 1990 games straight to 1992 games. Sadly, the creations from 1991 and many from 1992 are missing from Fabian's collection. (This batch includes a birthday demo of Fabian turning fourteen, so we can loosly conclude the creations on disk 6B are from 1992.)

Title: unknown
Disk: 6B
File Name: 'r a m'
Category:Demo
Genre: text message
Players:n/a
Date created:1992
Completed? Yes

Webmaster Comments: This interesting little demo shows characters popping up in a pseudo-3D style. Maybe something to do with Bobby McPherin's eighties hit "Don't worry, Be Happy"?
Author Comments: Yep, seems Bobby's hit was playing in the radios these days while I created this GKGM demo. Just some 3D sprite zooming testing, nothing more.

Title: Kiss My Ass
Disk: 6B
File Name: 'lmaa'
Category:Game
Genre: Breakout game
Players:1
Date created:1990
Completed? No

Webmaster Comments: Now this is a great high concept game! The player must spring off trampolines moving along the bottom of the screen and try to grab the objects moving along the top of the screen. It reminds me a little of the classic Bally-Midway game Clowns, except instead of controlling the see-saw and having no control over the airborne clowns, the player moves the clowns and has no control over the trampolines. In truth, the execution of the game is a little lacking. I never could grab an object at the top, and the rebound off the trampoline didn't feel very clean. Still, this is a great premise for an arcade game!
Author Comments: lmaa... *lol* meaning kma "kiss my ass" in english ;) Even if you reached an object at the top, you couldn't collect them (no sprite collection routine implemented.) I had Clowns in mind as well while creating this little game...

Title: Fabian's Birthday
Disk: 6B
File Name: 'fabian'
Category:Movie
Genre: Birthday card
Players:n/a
Date created:1992
Completed? Yes

Webmaster Comments: Could this have been for Fabians 14th birthday? I remember doing something like this for my dad on Fathers Day. It was a little type-in fathers day card from a magazine, similar to the e-mail cards sent so much these days.
In this card, it looks like there is a line of birthday cakes and Fabian is painfully crawling towards them. Ah, German extisentialism. Who can understand it anyway? (Sorry, Fabian. I've been influenced too much by Mike Myers "Sprockets".) It's got some great bouncy music, again somewhat similar to the music from Datasoft (Bruce Lee, Goonies, Conan, Zorro).
Author Comments: Created by Dane for my 14th birthday, that is correct :) Anyone remebers "Another WOrld" or "Out of this World" on the Amiga 500? Great Vector Graphics game. Well, at the end of the game, our hero is crawling similar to the Fabian in the demo here, shortly before the end of Another World, where the Dragon arrives and rescues our hero. The text states: "This is Fabian shortly before a nervous breakdown. " Hehe. Nice cake that turns into a 14. ;)
*lol*, why German existentialism? ;) You mean the philosophical way to deny the existence of human beings? At least thats the definition of that word ;) It's funny how we Germans are regarded from people outside of Germany *g* :)

Title: y o u
Disk: 6B
File Name: 'y o u'
Category:Game
Genre: Target
Players:1
Date created:1990
Completed? No

Webmaster Comments: In this game, the player shoots a laser into a mirror that deflects it into a poor innocent duck who was doing absolutely nothing except flapping his wings and flying back and forth across the top of a screen next to an arrow that bounces up and down. On second thought, that duck deserves to die. This game is a little confusing since the arrow has no effect on the player yet the player can destroy the arrow. The music for the game is very creative, and reminds me of early Datasoft music from games like Conan and Bruce Lee.
Author Comments: " y o u" was quite tough to program. The arrow movement was not as easy as it looks like as well as preventing that your shot penetrates the wall. The point is to destroy 20 ducks and 20 arrows, but nothing happens after that, hence incomplete.

Note: I am unsure of the year the below creations were made. They are all on disk 7A and I was unable to find any statements in the code or any clues.

Title: unknown
Disk: 7A
File Name: '1'
Category:Movie
Genre: sci-fi
Players:n/a
Date created:199?
Completed? Yes

Webmaster Comments: At first glance, I thought this was an adventure game like those from Sierra On-Line, something rarely seen in GKGM. However, it's a cool looking sci-fi movie. I found it interesting that Germans say "Tock-Tock" rather than "Knock-Knock". The music in this game is absolutely phenomenal. Honestly, Rob Hubbard has nothing on Fabian. It's an amazing example of SID music, and I find it hard to believe it was done with the Music Maker in GKGM. From what I could tell, this looks a bit like a TRON movie, but I might be wrong since I can't read the dialogue.
Note: Me and my brother were really into Tron too, and my brother made a 3D Tron game in the early nineties for PC DOS. It was really an amazing project for its day, and screenshots can be seen here: Tron 3D
Author Comments: Exactly, Brian! You have an excellent gift of observation - I really created this movie in honour of TRON. As a kid I used to watch Tron on Video Cassette at least 3 times a day, I was so amazed by this movie.. I even made some private radio-plays together with friends that played in the TRON universe. Yeah, tock tock is the German equivalent to knock-knock.. We Germans even say "He is tock-tock", meaning "He's crazy / stupid / mad " or "he's nuts". Thanks for the music comment, too. By the way, there are tons of GKGM musics included on all the disks which are not attached to any game, demo or movie. So you have to listen to them via the Music Editor. :)
The German dialogue in this demo is nothing extra-ordinary. Two friends meet each other (in fact, its me and Dane *lol* ;) playing on a new computer by Fabian. Dane suggests to create a Virus, and Fabian wants to write a Virus-Killer (Antivirus Program) just for fun. In the second part of the movie, you see Zak (yeah, name's inspired by the Zak McKracken) who's created inside the computer, a guard is knocking him down with an electrified stick and leads him to the MCP (Master Control Program), as seen in 'ggjkkg'

Webmaster Comments: This looks to be part 2 of the TRON movie. More excellent music and graphics.
Author Comments: The Guard knocks Zak again, who's landing on a kind of seat and is watching a simulation of the MCP just like in the movie TRON. Dialoge is missing and this was never finished. The tite has nothing to say. Maybe I was a bit nerved on this day or was in a hurry or something.
