"In the Shade"

In the Shade

A literary novel by Colin Ward

"In the Shade", Colin Ward's first and last literary fiction, is not meant to appeal to everyone's taste. If you enjoy action adventures, murder mysteries, romances, science fiction and nothing else this will not be the novel for you! If, on the other hand, your literary tastes allow for discussion of language (did you know that spoken French lacks a past perfect tense while English lacks a definitive present tense and a permanent tense?), philosophy ("We are all gods...becoming human."), anthropology (including the suggestion that humankind could not have originated on this planet) and politics ("Politics is zugswang.") then "In the Shade" may appeal to you. If you don't mind these discussions being punctuated by comic relief, read on!
