Before...
Denise, working in the garden during its heyday. A tip from the
rec.gardens newsgroup
advising us to grow wild flowers proved very helpful. She made her own
potpourri for the first time this year. She plans a vastly expanded
herb garden next year, building on her success this last growing season.
"The Rhubarb That Ate Winnipeg" continues to spread, unabated by our
attempts to root it out, burn it out and/or starve it out. Next, we'll be trying
Agent Orange!
After...
And this is our garden now, ravaged by an early winter.
Denise's efforts to build a cold frame did not succeed in extending
our growing season, although the suddenness of this nasty weather was,
perhaps, too stringent a test. Next year Denise will be able to use the
garden tiller her mother gave her. We are hoping that our efforts to make decent compost bear fruition and
help next year's crop. For now, we're just waiting for spring tulips!
