is a non-profit, non-political organization based in Canada (formerly in Thailand), working for the development of the people of Burma who live as refugees along the Burmese border.
EWOB cooperates with like-minded individuals and non-governmental organizations and promotes awareness in Canadian society and the international community of the plight of Burmese women and children.
is to give support to the people in refugee camps, to provide skills training for women and children in the peripheral areas of Burma, and to further the education of the youth who have been neglected for more than a decade.
To give women vocational training so that they will have more confidence and self-reliance, and therefore be in a better position to live with dignity and respect.
To help the women refugees live a nearly normal life by offering them new knowledge and skills, which will also make them better citizens when they are able to return to their homeland.
To maintain the womens' values, culture and beliefs so they can take pride in their national and ethnic identity.
To help the women continue their education on both a formal and informal basis.
To further the education of young people.
We believe in the universality and indivisibility of all human rights. We believe that human rights can only be achieved by empowering the women through education as a critical step towards building a better world.
