Help ! AVRO CF-100 Clunk Canuck Lead Sled
I am trying to either restore or build from scratch an AVRO CF-100 Canuck
cockpit.
I am only going to do the pilots position as I don't have that much room and
besides the navigator stuff is even harder to find.
The decision to do the CF-100 was based on finding a CF-100 throttle
quadrant
I have wanted to restore a cockpit for years but just decided to get serious
about it lately.
Sadly my health is such that my motorcycle
days are over......
I have a number of instruments and panels but I have a very long way to
go. Some things
I need
It looks exceedingly unlikely that I will find a cockpit section to restore as
there just isn't anything left.
I found a fuselage in Ohio but it not for sale and besides way beyond my means
and logistics and back yard.....
I should also note that if a miracle occurs and I actually find and get the
cockpit of another jet fighter to restore I would just put the CF-100 project
on the backburner.
Anything that has radar and is a jet would do nicely. Think F-104, F-101,
F-86D, etc.
All the restorable cockpits that I have found are in the USA. Imagine
trying to bring a US Air Force jet fighter cockpit across the border!
There is this thing called ITAR which as far as I can determine means that I am
trying to export a weapons system from the US into Canada.
I had a quick chat with the ITAR focal at work and it seems that one has to be
very careful and easily think of go to jail.
I am trying to find a customs broker who understands ITAR to see if I can get
around this.
I am looking for anything that has to do with the cockpit of a CF-100, panels,
gauges, hardware, brackets, blueprints, detailed pictures, etc.
