In late January 1985 when I was at Kelvin High School, I had come across a Free Press newspaper article or column at the Library that mentioned Winnipeg's suburbs were separate entities up until the end of 1971.
I also discovered the Winnipeg Area Transportation Study from 1968, which had plans for 5 freeways, the Suburban Beltway expressway, and the 5.4 mile subway along Portage Avenue Main St. up to Hespeler Avenue in East Kildonan.
Later on I attended Sturgeon Creek Regional Secondary School and found a copy of Planning for Metro and another document called ? in the school library. I photocopied these and held onto them for years.
After I had some experience creating a couple of websites — Unofficial Winnipeg Transit Online and the Telidon History Project, I was ready to create a third site, this one featuring reports from the Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg.
So now here we are today and there is going to be alot of information in the form of reports and possibly minutes and similar resources placed on this website.
