Little man in a fix (Denmark)

Formation

This is a fun dance, played by an odd number of couples. Your aim is to ensure that you have another couple to dance with every verse. Inevitably, one couple is going to be left out. Couples in a shoulder - waist hold. The man links left arms with the man of another couple, so that the 2 couples are facing in opposit directions. There should be one couple not dancing this round.

Instructions

  1. Going in an anticlockwise direction :
    • stamp with your right foot - men nod to each other
    • put left foot forward.
    • put right foot forward.
    • stamp with your left foot - men nod to your partner.
    • put right foot forward.
    • put left foot forward.
    • Repeat this 3 times. ( Total of 8 bars)
  2. With the same foot work as in part 1 and without the nodding, continue in an anticlockwise direction for 8 bars, but with a hand hold as follows :
    • Men hold your partner's left hand with your right hand.
    • Men hold, the other man's left hand with your left hand.
    • Men make an arch with their left arms, and the ladies go through that arch whilst holding hands with thir partner.
    • Men drop the arch, once the ladies have gone through the arch.
    • Ladies, turn round and reach over the men's left arms and take hold of the other lady's right hand with your right hand.
  3. Let go of the person who is not your partner, and so that you are facing away from the other couple.
    • Still holding your partner's hand, swing those arms away and step away from the other couple and towards them again. (2x)
    • Waltz round on the spot for 4 Bars so that you face the same couple.
    • Holding your partner's inside hand as before, swing those arms in and step towards the other couple and away from them again (2x) but this time waltz on to find another couple.
    • At this point the couple who were not dancing this round try to find another couple to dance with. You may not dance with the same couple as you did on the previous round. Start the dance again.
