Tape Trading Guidelines
I have set up this page to answer and clarify many questions that I have
run across in regards to my tape inventory and tape trading in general.
If you are interested in obtaining tapes from me, spend a few moments
reading this page. It saves a lot of unnecessary email message traffic.
I am usually able to answer emails witihin a day or two. Sometimes an
email gets buried, so if I haven't responded in reasonable time, resend
the message.
This page is a work in progress. Thanks to Bill Adlhoch for his input.

Sports Tape Interests
1) Hockey
WHA - just about anything, games, highlights, documentaries
NHL - the older the better, historic or memorable recent games
International - Canada Cups, USSR and other national teams vs NHL clubs
TV documentaries or biographies
For hockey games broadcast on more than one network, a CBC or TSN
broadcast is usually preferred over a US network or local team station.
I am NOT interested in hockey fight compilations.
2) Football
CFL - Grey Cups, playoff games, old regualar season
NFL/AFL - Super Bowls, AFL/AFC/NFC/NFL Championships, historic or
memorable recent games
3) Baseball
World Series, historic or memorable games.

Complete broadcasts
When trading for games, "complete" broadcasts are most desirable.
A game tape is considered "complete" if it has all of the following:
1) the opening preamble
2) commercials
3) intermissions
4) unedited game action
5) at least a few minutes of post game wrapup
In other words, the broadcast is complete and unedited from start to end.
Thirty minute pregame shows and extended postgame shows are NOT necessary
to consider a game "complete".
"Classic" edited rebroadcasts or highlight packages are much less desirable
than "complete" original broadcasts, but may be of interest for games where
"complete" broadcasts are unlikely to be available.

Grading
Over time I am adding quaility ratings next to the date of the tape. If
you are interested in a tape that does not have the grading listed, I can
provide it to you.
A+: Master - Taped directly from the network feed at LP or SP
A: Excellent - 1st generation SP copy, LP copy or source EP copy
B: Very Good - Not network quality
C: Good - Watchable, noticeable degradation
D: Fair - Marginal quality
E: Poor - For diehards only

Tape Speeds
SP (Standard Play) Fastest speed, best quality recording
T-120 tape capacity is between 2:00 and 2:05
T-160 tape capacity is between 2:40 and 2:45
Use this speed for all events up to about 2:44 in length. If
you absolutely must have a longer event in SP speed, I can
accommodate, but I will want a premium in return.
LP (Long Play) Middle speed and quality
T-120 tape capacity is between 4:00 and 4:05
T-160 tape capacity is between 5:00 and 5:25
Many VCR's manufactured today do not record in LP speed, although all
VCR's will playback tapes recorded at LP speed.
EP (Extended Play) also known as
SLP (Super Long Play) Slowest speed, lowest quality
Trading at this speed is usually avoided.

Taping Guidelines
All trades are done with previously unused brand name tapes.
SP mode is used for events that can fit on T-120 or T-160. This covers
recordings up to 2:44 in length. LP mode on a T-120 or T-160 is used for
longer tapes up to 5:25.
I reluctantly send or receive a game tape less than 5:25 in length
spanned over more than one tape.
We all have our own labeling systems, so the label that comes with the
tape is sent unmarked. A small piece of paper or post-it note is used to
identify the tape.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Shipping
I use Canada Post surface delivery. Delivery time in Canada, is usually
less than 7 days, to U.S. 7-14 days. Airmail is an added premium.
U.S. traders, please do NOT send by UPS or Fedex, as I may be liable for
receiving fees.
Tapes should be packaged securely to avoid damage. A tape received in
damaged condition should be replaced by the sender at no charge.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Communicating your trade offer
1) Give the URL of your web page with the tape listing
2) If you do not have it listed on a web page, cut and paste it into your
email to me, but do not send an attached document as I cannot and will not
open an attached document in an email.
3) At some point, if there is to be a trade, I will need to know the
condition of your tape and whether it is "complete".
4) I will also be interested in network of broadcast for games that
originate on more than one network (usually hockey).
5) Tapes are not sent until both traders have completed their tapes.
6) If you do not have tapes to trade email me for other trading.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
A Final Word
I do most of the taping while I am away from the machines. I do spot check
the beginning of the recording process to make sure everything is connected
properly and that the tracking is clear. However I CANNOT watch every single
second of every single game. If you notice anything wrong or are otherwise
dissatisfied, please let me know and I will correct the situation.
